well I wouldn't mind trying that if I could log in at least. I can't even make it that far. No log in screen no nothing, just a black screen after the start the App for crunchyroll. Thanks for trying to help but it won't work like that sadly.

Hey, everybody. I just wanted to let all of you know that we're checking every thread that gets posted in these forums. We're well aware of the problems with the PS3 app, and they're working hard to get a fix out (I know, it's been a while).

I use the PS3 app for almost all my CR watching, so I know how frustrating it can get. A lot of the suggestions folks are giving are helpful, and I'm finding it works okay when I restart it every three or four episodes (when the framerate starts to chug or there's audio sync issues). It's become like clockwork now--"oh, framerate issues? *sigh* Back out, restart, next episode..."

Unfortunately, restarting the app will help with the memory leak, but not the hard crashes of the PS3, or the failure to load any shows in the results list for popular/updated shows categories. These issues are just as likely to happen on the first load of the app.

There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the problems -- 20% of the time when I load Crunchyroll, it will work perfectly, with instant loading of the results for updated shows, and will play the shows immediately. The majority of the time for the last two months or so however, it will either give a 'no results available' message when trying to load the list of shows or the list of episodes for a single show, or simply hard crash the entire PS3, forcing me to use the power button to reset it.

It may be concurrency related -- in peak usage times (8-11ish eastern on weekdays), it seems slightly worse, but I haven't been keeping close enough track of when it works and when it doesn't to be confident in saying that for sure.

Do you guys have a public facing bug tracker or issue reporting tool? Posting on the forums doesn't seem like the best method for relaying these types of issues.

Baker's working on a lot of things to try and make reporting site issues easier on your end, and behind-the-scenes stuff to not require as much legwork on the users' part. I can't give any details (because I actually don't have any, sorry), but I'll be sure to point this out to him on Monday.

I think I speak for quite a few CR users when I say if a competing simulcast/streaming service shows up with an app that actually works , I'll be ditching my CR membership (even for a smaller library).

I've gotten used to having the app reset to the XMB after more than 3 episodes, I've gotten used to treating the episode skip buttons like lag causing landmines, the total refusal to save my progress on any streams, I've even gotten used to system crashes when you view a series episode list. But I refuse to adapt to the random fits where no anime period will play, the process indicator spins but after a few seconds my stream fails to start. As of right now I can't watch anything without a hard reset after EVERY episode, which in my opinion qualifies the crunchy roll as total garbage. How can refusing to fix any of the issues with the app mesh with a decent business model? Here I am, a paying customer with no prior intent of canceling seriously considering a competing service because CR won't fix a simple app.

And please as for the apologists I've seen on other app related threads, just save your nut riding no I won't just watch it on my laptop I have an expensive tv for a reason. Ps3 use was THE reason I subscribed in the first place, I shouldn't have to reason or defend my chosen method of viewing CR streams. Simply no other video streaming app has this many chronic issues, and no other company that I'm aware of refuses to fix any issues at all. For the record I like CR quite a lot, I'm overjoyed that I never see sudden video quality changes or buffering which is a big issue I have with Netflix and I love the always growing library. But because of a few long standing glitches, that CR certainly has the resources to fix my current overall experience after almost 1 year remains as a bad one.

I totally feel your frustration on this. It's ridiculous that watching streams on the different apps has become a game of luck. The only advantage the xbox has over the ps3 is it won't crash the system. Can't watch anything 7 out of 10 times, but at least it doesn't crash! </sarcasm>

The thing that really pisses me off is that attempting to watch a CR stream on my laptop at high quality can result in laggy playback, so that's not even a sure fix for me. This is getting very old, very fast.

I hope they work this out soon. I have been dealing with this for quite a few weeks and only just had time to check on it tonight. My problem is getting my queue and episodes to load. Once I get an episode to go, it's fine for that episode. Stopping between episodes seems to help a little bit, but not always. Sometimes, it works fine (usually earlier in the day). I'm finding myself going to Neon Alley more and more. It isn't a bad thing, but my husband and I look forward to our chance to work on catching up up Naruto Shippuden on the PS3 and it is much more slowly lately
I have always had problems browsing through the videos for long series crashing the app. If a show like Naruto Shippuden is the offender with the bad image thing, I don't really want to remove it from my queue and try to find episode 307 again because it will likely crash everytime.

just need to add my two cents to the discussion in hopes it might expedite things a bit for all of us or just for own piece of mind. I like many of you use ps3 for watching my anime and recently it has gotten worse not better. I was used to the fact that if I watched marathon sessions I would eventually have to restart but over the last week I haven't even been able to get through one show from beginning to end. All shows have crashed halfway through and then when I return they won't load at all. Finally tonight I wasn't even able to watch the beginning of a show as soon as I clicked on the show it immediately crashed my Ps3.
I don't really mind having to watch a show now and then on my PC but I much prefer to use my ps3 so I can watch on my television. Hopefully this gets better soon because i do like watching anime legitimately but if I have to watch everything on my pc I can't justify spending the money.

I'd like to hear from someone inside of CR, as to the likely hood of seeing fixes for at least the stuff that makes the ps3 system crash. I know they likely aren't tripping over themselves to fix a last gen consoles app, but more than a few subscribers aren't ditching the ps3 anytime soon. Not all of us are huge gamers, personally I have other very expensive hobbies and new consoles are stupid expensive I might buy a ps4 in a few years lol.

Would love an Update CR on ps3 app fix. I fortunately have a samsung smart tv & pc & laptop all in my room so watching CR on a different device is not difficult but I do like to have ps3 running and have it turn off after an hour if I pass out vs pc which will stay on until I wake up and fumble across the room to press the power button. I wont cancel my Subscription over this as its just a simple app and its nice to have but I would like to see some updates as this seems to be a big issue for people.

Is there a reason you don't have your PC set to either sleep or hibernate after a set period (e.g., 1 hour) of no mouse or keyboard activity?

ever since I built it,,, my pc has had issues with sleep and hibernate. When I try to resume it slows down to a crawl and sometimes just locks up. Never found way to fix and it messes with my hd's that are hooked up as I have a few external green Drives which will resume their spinning when my pc is awake which in sleep/hibernate my pc never actually stops. In other words my pc has issues

Long time paid member here:

Just want to add my $0.02:

The frequency and severity of crashing and errors on the PS3 app is completely unreasonable. It needs to be resolved ASAP.

I've *always* had problems with Crunchyroll, on any device, but they are usually intermittent, and often seem to be load related (of the service, not of my internet connection or device). However, it was usually tolerable.

Crunchyroll on PS3 is currently infuriatingly unusable.

For the record, I'm a certified network professional, and have a business class network connection. The issues are not caused by my devices or network connection.

To be honest i thought i was the only one going through all these but apparently i am not alone. Guys at crunchyroll its one thing for this to be a free service and things dont work optimally but when i pay 11 bucks every month for like almost 2 years then please i expect things to work, the crashes and stuff i cant deal with but whats worse of all is the fact that when you finally get it going, because your streamer is bad on ps3 the buffering chugs and ruins the experience.

if you would just give a quality option and a buffer underlay in the progress bar of the show to allow us know how fast or slow it buffers, that would be kindly appreciated and also, give us more video calibration options in the settings and optimize your player for the love of God, i mean i have insanely fast internet that downloads 4gigs under 10 minutes at its best and i cant even watch a damn episode without the show buffering, i mean it cant be my internet cause i sure as hell stream 2160p (4k) videos on youtube to my computer without it buffering once. please fix i am getting really frustrated at your player and the app in general.

I haven't seen it posted here yet, but if anyone is manually setting DNS numbers on their PS3's to watch increased content on *popular streaming service* it can and will bugger up the app to the point of getting the black screen and chime-of-death lock up upon opening the app.

I'm somewhat in the same boat but without the entire PS3 crashing.

Before I was able to play every episode of the KDramas I have in my queue. But recently, there is a trend where a few episodes will just not play on the PS3. Others will play but some episodes, before playing, will just display the loading symbol on the bottom right. That symbol will stop spinning and the episode won't play. And then, I get taken back to the queue page.

I've had this problem most recently with Episode 10 of the KDrama "Truth".

Thanks for your time.
