I need help understanding what correlation Magi has to the Sochi Olympics, that has caused it to be delayed. Is this CR's doing? Because I don't think it is.

I remembered that SAO ep 6 was delayed due to the olypmics or something... But I forgot... It's been like 2 years.
But I hate that events like the Olympics blocks CR from airing stuff on time... It makes me want to go the fansub route.

Magi 2 is also simulcast on Daisuki.net and Hulu by Aniplex, so if both those have the same delay, you have absolute confirmation it has nothing to do with Crunchyroll.

Aniplex's fault then.

I find it odd because a show like Gundam Build Fighters, which is basically the Gunpla Olympics, is still airing normally. I guess Sunrise doesn't care as much. I mean I guess it's good for the animators and other staff but still :/

Is the time changing again though I wonder, because they've been releasing episodes dynamically.

Image how many people are going to complain about anime delays when the Olympics happen in Japan in a couple of years.

I'm thinking it hasn't aired in Japan; the Olympics took its time slot. So that is why Crunchy, Hulu, and Daisuki cannot post the episode. Usually the episode has to air before it can be available online. (Money loss)

I think its the same reason there are delays for when baseball and stuff is running. The time slot the anime airs in Japan is taken over by the sports. So the release of the anime gets delayed because of that. Same thing happens here in the states.

Anime gets delayed for many reasons. A few that I've found over the last couple of years is (currently) the olympics, Holidays, and various events that they deem to be more important than anime (blasphemy, I tell you). If you think an olympic delay is bad wait until Golden Week when you practically get nothing shown that week. I don't remember what they do, or do not air, but that week usually leaves me hanging.

I'm not sure how long it's getting delayed for but seriously, how entitled are you if you don't get your anime immediately after its japan release you get pissed and whine?

Just calm down and be patient.

I figured this was why we got both episode 16 and 17 of Magi in the same week.. Possible it was just a 2 episode special, though, and had nothing to do with the olympics taking up its slot in the future. The only reason it would be delayed because of the olympics, though, would be because the olympics took its time slot, so I'm sure that is why it's delayed. It's not on Hulu either, so it's not Crunchy's fault.

Uh it's probably because the channel it airs on in Japan is showing Olympics coverage... I thought that would have been obvious when they posted the delay over a WEEK ago. Tokyo TV stations do not care what a bunch of anime fans streaming on a third party website think about it- the time slot isn't available, that's it.
