I just have some sort of a strong psychological barrier against the idea that I HAVE TO pay continually to be able to play some game. I am more than happy to spend money on a game (I have a lifetime subscription for Star Trek Online, which I only started playing after it went free-to-play) but if I cannot choose whether, when and how much I pay I am immediately like 'No.'

In fact, I probably wouldn't even be a Crunchyroll member if Crunchyroll wasn't 'free-to-watch' service.

THAT I can believe. The entitlement issues...

On a more positive note, I can now add Mabinogi to the list of MMORPGs I've tried. Seems pretty nice, let's hope it manages to reel me in.

I would like to try Elder Scrolls Online (almost bought it yesterday) but the idea of subscription based game really doesn't appeal to me.
Mabinogi also seems interesting but I can't quite seem to figure out whether it is available in Europe...

EU version got shut down due to some kind of lawsuit with the Mabinogi developer in korea but you can still play the US verison since it is now considered International verison since they lift the IP block, but you will likely get screwed in the timing since some of the events are timed base such as the weekly banquet which only happened in 7 PM PST or like the recent club event where you can only get reward if you are online at specific time

This very much, i rather prefer subscription based game just because everyone have access to the same thing. There is so much awesome MMO games in which i feel like got ruined by subscription and cash shops. Sure on one hand, you get more things than the free players but at the same time paying players got ostracized, and get called cheaters just because they pay. I personally pretend most of the MMO have like a small subscrption fee in order to support the company to keep the game up. On the other hand many cash shops things are ridiculously overpowered that crafting almost have no place in the game.

welcome to Mabi, by the way, hope you like the game, it is old but a pretty nice niche MMO. Hope there will be a Mabinogi 2 that is bascially like Mabi 1 with updated graphics.

I play DCUO on my ps3 for the time being but next month I'm building a PC. After that I'll oh back to wow and cycle in ff14/DCUO.

I tried Tera and it was meh. I played DFO for 3 years and loved/hated it toward the end. I played dragon nest and the lack of proper support class emphasis/over importance of dps just annoyed me.
Vindictus was dull. Brutal but dull.
I might try rift and eq1/2.

I've so far played Neverwinter, Eden Eternal (for a bit), and The Lord of the Rings Online for about 4 think going on 5 years now. Sadly I feel MMO's are dying a bit right now and the only one staying at the top is WoW.

So far NCJP has not announced B&S will be IP blocked and I'm really hopeful that remains the case as we approach launch.

I pretty much played almost MMORPG currently out there. Especially all the Free ones for NA. To lazy to do any ENG mods for untranslated games.

Waiting on
Blade & Soul - probably wont ever happen anymore
PSO2 - suppose to be sometimes this year since recent announcement
Black Desert - seeing this game alone gives me gasms

Hey - PSO2 was supposed to come out in English in 2013. There's been no announcement since. The only other server is an English one located in the SEA region, where all other IPs are banned, the translations are wrong, the content is 2 years old, and AsiaSoft (worse than EA) is in charge of it.

As for patching the JP version, simply download the constantly updated English Setup (http://arks-layer.com/setup.php) and the PSO2 Tweaker (http://arks-layer.com), point it to your PSO2 directory, and hit "Install English patch". That's literally it. It also handles updating, installing new patches, troubleshooting, changings settings, and well, just about everything!

The only announcement they made was that it "wasn't canceled". (Which is a load of BS)
