Well to answer your question it sort of goes like this...

The anime community is divided in if they consider the prospect of lolicon acceptable or not, and lolicons themselves are divided over what they find appealing about loli characters.

Some find the "cute" appearance of loli characters pleasing to watch, others have more mischievous things in mind.

My opinion? Pretty much the exact same as this guy...

Which was what the previous 40 pages of bantering was about.

That's the thing, there's a lot of gray area. If I watch a show with a loli in it I'll probably think she's cute, because that's usually the purpose of their existence, but there isn't any lust on top of that. Though the way I understand it, lolicons aren't necessarily driven by desire but simple mental fixation.

I guess this is kind of hard to answer.

Generally in anime, there are characters that might look like they're 10, but they're actually like 15 or so. In most anime, the characters range from middle to high school, so I think it's not really that big of a deal.

I don't think it's really so much an age thing, just characters that are short and have smaller proportions to give them a cute or innocent look.

One of the biggest issues with this whole debate is that all things lolicon tend to get lumped together. There's an obvious difference in okay-ness between a 700-year-old loli vampire doing vaguely lewd things and a 7-year-old girl being explicitly raped on-screen by a creepy middle-aged man.

Especially when said vampiress is deliberately making herself look like a little girl.

It appears you didn't bother increasing the amount of fabric used to create her dress/swimsuit/thing...

I get a bit confuse, when people say they lolicon it is when someone that finds little underage girls attractive... attractive in the sense of "wow she's sooo cute and adorable!" and not in the sense of [other things], but isn't that just moe? so whats the difference?

Lolicons disturb me. It is incredibly disturbing and creepy how this style of character sexualizes a little/young girl, or draws a grown woman in a diminutive, pro-pedophilia way.

The problem is that many newer animes/mangas blur the line between loli and cute - I think they do this in an attempt to make themselves less obvious, and more "acceptable"; when I am pretty sure their intentions are otherwise.

It is not "cute" to see a woman acting like a little girl both in mannerisms and looks. It is not "cute" to see a child character being drawn or acting in a suggestive way no matter how subtle. It is not adorable when a child character makes certain faces/noises. It is not appealing when a grown woman is nothing more than a kawaii-blob.

It is things like this which should not be accepted nor condoned. The public/anime crowd should be be conditioned into thinking it is okay for little girls and women to be shown in this way.

What makes it sick is how lolicon and even moe (quite often) merges childlike imagery/undeveloped body types with erotic, sexual undertones. Even if the body is not underdeveloped, the overall aesthetic quality of the image is this.

Innocence and sweetness is one thing. Being naive is one thing. But when you're acting like a child and looking like one, not out of immaturity, but out of a certain, creepy appeal - that is where the problem lies.

Moe definitely crosses the line into this type of thing many a time. It seems to have become more "naturalized" among the anime/manga crowd - something which should have never happened in the first place. Not only that, but more and more characters nowadays have personalities based off of how "cute" and "moe" they are - which are not character traits whatsoever. Honestly: what happened to the good old days of actual personality and characterization? Now the modern manga and anime throws these things away in favor of lolicon and kawaiiness!

If any other country but Japan did this, it would be condemned. I mean...Come on. Japan is the country where hardcore lolicon and shotacon porn is available out there in the public in certain stores. That is just not...Normal.

This lolicon garbage, and moe-blob characterization is just fueling closet pedophilia.

Edit: The classic book, Lolita (which I'm sure has something to do with how lolicon...ism, was coined), is about a prepubescent/tween girl named Lolita who is raped and molested continuously by the older man, Humbert Humbert. Make of that what you may.
