Yep. You heard me. I hear it's going to be around $300 for that crappy OS. Just like ZUNE it's another one of MicroSoft's bad attempts to re-monopolize the computer market. Sure they have the games first, sadly, and lot's of other programs first.. But they get the viruses, thing's like that. Luckily for me, I've been avoiding MicroSoft products since Linux UBUNTU had been released.

Oh. To make the post more constructive:

For my birthday I had recived a personal computer, literally a personal notebook. I turned It on and I saw the Windows logo appear. I was like "ew." So I popped in my UBUNTU: Dapper Drake CD and installed that. I saw the box the notebook came in and it said it had a HD of 60GB. When Winblows XP was uninstalled and UBUNTU was in and working I looked at my remaining HD space A whopping 100.1GB was remaining. So, post deletion of Winblows I had earned myself a free 40GB of pron space.

Do yourself, your computer a favour. Switch to the smaller, faster, millions more efficient: Linux UBUNTU.

Oh, and don't buy winblows: VISTA.

Linux is always the best i have red hat n ubuntu. but not many people are used to it. I have vista, but i still prefer XP

linux is better i think but its hard to run programs on it

Jeez... It's a thread about Windows and why am I not surprised to see some mac bashing. Well, whatever, I really just don't care about vista. For what it's worth, it's given a couple cosmetic re-touches but nothing remotely worth $300 to upgrade... unless you reaaly must...

300$...? you know we can get that for around 250 Pesos at greenhills... lol! i know windows suck... i've tried all versions and so far the most stable i had is win98SE... I'd love to shift to linux but i'm a linux dumbass and i'm used to the typical windows interface that i can't imagine my PC with another OS...

I'll try ubuntu next time i build a new pc though...

I got vista and its been great for me. Its not 300 dallors. Just buy the OEM. Only cost me 180 for Vista ultimate. And its impossible for vista to be 60 GB. I installed Vista in a 35GB raptor and it fits with all my games.

Since I go to Indiana University they sell Vista to students and faculty for a nominal charge. (the ultimate edition of Vista). I haven't bought it yet because they only sell it through the bookstore starting May. I can't wait! I hope they have improved the Windows Movie Maker so that it won't crash everytime I drag a clip on to the timeline

Anyway, I guess it can't be worse than XP.......although...has anyone noticed that vista is starting to look like the mac (graphics wise)?

^ yup. In fact, it's a trend these days, so I'm not surprised that people are jumping along the whole "white is the new black" theme. the DS looks like a shrunk iBook and Vista has elements that are similar to Mac OSX, no big shocker there.
