I think it's a licensing issue. Movies are meant to generate a huge amount of revenue, so it makes a lot more sense for them to sell their license to a company that makes dvds, rather than a streaming site which is a little like a tv channel, except with less solid funding.

I've love to see a lot of movies for running anime like Gintama and Conan and the like though, because those are much, much hard to find subtitles for than "movie" movies like 5cm or The Wind Rises. I want to see Yoruzuya Forever man!

Different profitability models as well. It doesn't make sense for everyone to buy every anime series they enjoy, so alternative revenue models have sprung up to compensate. It's much more reasonable to buy a good movie, though, so most of them are licensed by companies who don't want their actual sales compromised by streaming.

I'd assume this makes movies much more expensive as well, since you not only have to buy the rights but also compensate the company you bought them from for their reduced sales due to your streaming service. But letting a site like CR simulcast TV series is practically risk-free since you're not negating possible sales, just possible piracy.

(In any case, those are my assumptions.)

Crunchyroll has some movies. The CoMixWave ones, from Makoto Shinkai, are here:

There's also:

Disney has the rights to the studio Ghibli films in North America, so that's why CR would not be able to have them unless they pay a hefty fee to Disney. FUNimation has most of the other anime films licensed in NA, so I'd imagine it just costs CR too much to get those ones as well.

There's also another thread, and more, about this topic already:

Most movies also seem to come with home video licensing deals which is why Funimation gets them most of the time. An exception is Wake Up Girls:

Not sure how much longer than one will be available.
