Do you have a film from the 80s you've enjoyed a lot? For me, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence has a special place in my heart, probably one of the most underrated films ever, David Bowie included: http://youtu.be/IL2v9qNTI_A

Back to the Future is my favorite movie of all time, and Stand By Me is a close second, the greatest coming of age movie ever and really emotional. They both are really special movies to me.

I'm going to post great 80's movies that have been badly remade

Robocop is one of the funniest, most biting pieces of satire ever put to film.
It still stands up as an amazing movie. The remake is inferior in every single way.

The Thing is still one of the best horror movies ever and the creature effects are awesome
The remake/sequel is terrible, too.

Total Recall was made in 1990 but I'm going to include it anyway because it was awesome and the remake was... not bad... just kind of dull and completely unnecessary.

Here is a list that I've thoroughly enjoyed (not including animated flicks):

Tron
*Batteries Not Included
Short Circuit / Short Circuit 2 (1:1 telemetry suit used to control Number 5; look it up!)
Back to the Future / Back to the Future: Part 2
Gremlins
Robocop / Robocop 2
Alien / Aliens
Predator
Conan the Barbarian / Conan the Destroyer
Total Recall
The Running Man
Twins
Tango & Cash
Die Hard
The Beast Master
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
Masters of the Universe
Flight of the Navigator
The Explorers
Scrooged
Enemy Mine
The Last Starfighter
Howard the Duck
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

I tend to like sci-fi flicks so there are quite a number of them. lol

Also, pretty much all Schwarzenegger films during the 80s and early 90s were entertaining to watch.

Oh gosh... hard to say. I don't know the year's that movies came out. I saw someone write Indiana Jones, so I'll add that to my list. I also liked Star Wars, but I guess only Revenge of the Jedi would be appropriate to note in this thread. Also The Goonies was pretty awesome. That's all I can think of at the moment, unless I were to actually look up movie release dates... which I don't plan to do. But lot's of awesome movies from the 80's!!!

Man! How can I forget about The Goonies!? That one is definitely up there as one of my favorites. I can't remember how many times I've watched that movie as a kid.

There's a few more I just thought of, but I've thought up of far too many already.

I'm down with every movie mentioned so far.

Except for Robocop 2 and Back to the Future 2. They missed the whole point of the movies they came from.

Alien came out in 1979, but I believe it to be the best horror movie ever made, so I'm ok with having it here.

lol I forgot that one came out in 1979 instead of the 1980s... I was watching "The Making of..." video for Alien prior to the list, so I probably got it mixed up by it.

I find the lack of Return of the Jedi, the Transformers movie, Terminator, and Predator disturbing,
