I like both equally, both have their strengths and weaknesses, both tell a good story and both do it in a different style, as in one i mecha and one isn't.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann has a great sense of scale, character development, and sacrifice.
Kill la Kill has a great sense of aesthetics, commentary, and action.

What's more incredible than these two shows themselves if how similarily I feel about them. Both were crazy rides that I wish I could experience a second time. They both had weak villains, but also a really cool and diverse cast to make up for it.

I have to give the edge to Gurren Lagann for it having Kamina and how iconic he was while also having the guts (no pun intended) to kill him a mere 8 episodes in for the sake of Simon's arc. Good stuff all around.

KLK all the way, I somewhat struggled to finish TTGL, I really liked it until after Ep. 8 I like that they had the guts to do what they did but in doing so it lost all of the energy it had, it also doesn't help that when I don't care about the characters the big flashy action sequences do nothing for me so its craziness at the end didn't excite me at all.
Also TTGL had horrible horrible villans especially the anti-spirals which were frigging stupid and the Spiral king who got too little screen timae and his minions who had no development,
Whereas ragyou was pretty good, nui was pretty good and satsuki and the elite four where very good as the first villans and were well developed.

That said I didn't hate TTGL and anyone who likes well done action and can watch a show simply for the action and the rest is just icing thats fine and I would heartily recomend it, but I really do watch for the characters and the plot and action is nice but it very rarely impresses me. Also I am not much a fan of mech fighting in animation

MARK MY WORDS...! This drill, will open a hole in the universe. And that hole will be a path for those behind us. The dreams of those who have fallen! The hopes of those who will follow! Those two sets of dreams weave together into a double helix, drilling a path towards tomorrow! That's Tengen Toppa! That's Gurren-Lagann! My drill is the drill, that will create the heavens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TTGL! hands down, I enjoyed Kill La Kill a lot, but Satsuki & Ryuko just can't compare to Kamina & Simon for me !

I vote for Gurren Lagann, which has the two manliest protagonists, ever. Simon and Kamina can't be compared, either.

I vote Gurren Lagann. It might just be because I'm a guy that I like it, but I'm definitely not afraid to admit that Gurren Lagann made me a little tearful at times and also scream "MY DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT WILL CREATE THE HEAVENS," in my brothers face while eating cereal in the morning.
Kill La Kill was a good show. Mako is by far my favorite character in the show just because she was ridiculously hilarious, but I didn't feel much for the other characters. Not to say that they were bland, but they just didn't (haha wow, this is REALLY for the lack of a better way to put it) stand out to me. My only true gripe with Kill La Kill is that the fan service itself was a little ridiculous. It was just too much for me, no pun intended.

Either way, both shows are enjoyable. Neither make my top 5, Gurren Lagann may make my top 10 (ERRRR, maybe pushing it a little) and Kill La Kill will just be that show that I enjoyed for the ride.
