I have always been a purist. That is to say that when I made Ramen noodles the ingredients were hot water, noodles, and flavor packet. Simple and satisfying, but a little lackluster and in fact down right boring. Lately I've been adding stuff to keep it interesting. For example today's lunch was Ramen with egg, cheese, edemame, carrots, and potato. It was really quite good and that got me wondering what other people add to their Ramen. So.....? What do you like with your Ramen? Do you add to it, keep it plain, or make a side dish to accompany it?

I am currently poor and keep it to the super-cheap Maruchan cup ramen Instant Lunch. Noodles, little bits of vegetable and beef/chicken/shrimp, and the flavoring. Still really good

I eat it with carrots, keep the soup, some beef sometimes, and a little of some random ingredient I have lying around.

I'm not very good at making Ramen or instant stuff. Although weirdly enough I can cook decently. Well anyways, with my ramen I usually add black pepper, a squirt of lemon, hot sauce, and some meat. c: A few potatoes here and there. And of course the flavoring, but food doesn't last long in my house. And my mom is a health freak and doesn't let us eat canned, frozen, or packaged food a lot.

Hot water, noodles and the flavor packet. Not too wet, not too dry.

But when I really "make it up", I add scrambled egg, veggies (carrots, string beans, mushroom, peas, bellpeppers), pepper, soy sauce, and some meat (like roast beef shreds if I have it) to the ramen. And I cook it in a pan on the stove. Grab an unhealthy soda and voila~ It's pretty darn super.

My mom makes this Thai dish - its excellent, and has a lot of gravy, veggies and chicken. When I don't want to eat it with sticky rice, I add the sauce to plain ramen (no seasoning). It is out of this WORLD good!

When I want ramen, I go to a Japanese restaurant and order it.

With gyoza....and karaage....and a beer

I may do that tomorrow.

The more important question is....

When you add an egg, do you cook it first or add it raw?

Most of the time I add mushrooms, onions, celery But some times i just throw an egg in call it a day. I do make rice to go with it tho. And thus I feed myself for about $1.25 a meal after I add in the cost of all of the extra ingredients.

My sister got me this

one Christmas..

I've tried some of them and they're actually not so bad.
If you survive on packaged ramen noodles, I suggest checking it out.
