I've noticed the same pattern: Most people think that they're automatically entitled to the title "Parent" after they have squeezed out a sack of meat, then think that they're doing a decent job at parenting as long if they keep giving the children shelter, and food on the table, as if that's good enough, then they think that it's ok to hand-over their kids to their grandparents and other babysitters all the time because they're "tired". These kids are basically robbed of their teachers and rolemodels; their guide in life, their counselor, their guardian, from the moment of birth. The reason why I don't ask the question "Why?" is because I already know the answer to it, and it's depressing. Making a thread about it, is unfortunately not going to make anyone more aware of it, in fact, most people will still think of it as ok even when you describe to them in great detail the severity of the abuse that they put their children through.

While what you are talking about is bad (though I'm not sure about abuse), this thread is about not that.

Anything EXCEPT what this thread was.

Just ask the mods.

That is how I watched Evangelion. I HATED watching it, but I managed to power through it on sheer willpower/spiral energy.

Aw...Shinji aside I really like Evangelion. xD I tried to push through with a few shows but I just can't manage it. Gintama for example. I just can not force myself to sit through it. Tried many times and failed.

...This is a pointless argument. If you don't like "families who have kids but still watch anime", then don't have one of those families. You clearly wouldn't be able to handle it. Also, stay out of other peoples' business.

Anime is a hobby. It isn't--or rather, should not be--a lifestyle. Therefore, giving up anime when you have children would be the same as, say, giving up sketching objects for fun, or giving up video games, giving up with a collection, giving up charity work, or giving up music. Hell, might as well just get rid of your TV, your computer...hell, get rid of your job (if you're giving up all of your hobbies, then why the hell not) when you have kids. When your kid's taking a nap, that's not time for you to relax a little, or time for you to get stuff done around the house, or time for you to have a little fun; oh no. You have to sit there...and watch your baby like a yandere stalker for three hours.

Or, instead of being an overprotective freak (who most people (by most people, I mean non-overprotective freaks) actually hate), pop in some goddamn Magical DoReMi every once in a while so that maybe your kid can spend some nice, relaxing time with you while being attracted to the pretty colors and fun music.

For me, the fact that I hated every single person really killed it. I mean, I understand WHY it is popular, and now that I have watched it (and the End of Evangelion film) I realize that it was more for art than for entertainment, but I hated the actual watching of it.

It is the only show I have ever really forced myself through, though at some point I will need to finish Cowboy Bebop. That won't be pretty.

This makes no sense. who said anime is suppose to be antisocial? its only seen like that cause people who watch tend to be. I go to an anime club at school where we watch anime together and stuff. You don't have to be antisocial to watch anime, that's stupid. I also don't see whats wrong with watching anime with your kids or when you have kids. If your kids are at school or something whats wrong with watching anime? you also don't need to be with your kids 24/7, i mean if they're babies then you are, but if they're like 5 or up then they can chill in a different room then you and play while you watch it. you don't need to completely ignore them. I also don't see why you can't watch it with them either. well, if the show is really violent or has a lot of eechi/hentai moments then you probably shouldn't if they're too young, but shows like Lucky Star, Naruto (not shippuden), or Shugo Chara should be fine.

Assuming i had kids, and since i do cooking as an hobby, then i suppose they'd need to starve. Since i can't do my hobby and raise my kids at the same time. Yep. Makes sense. I'll just send them into the woods for some berries and roots, maybe some meaty maggots if they can find some.

You aren't being serious are you? Anime isn't an antisocial thing, if it was then there wouldn't be conventions and no one would come together to cosplay. It's not a crime for a family to all enjoy watching anime especially together and if they have free time, I don't see no issue with them doing something they enjoy, Are you saying when they have free time, they have to spend every waking minute taking care of a child? Uh no - A parent deserves breaks every once in while.

I really don't see the issue or the point of this thread. It lacks so much sense..
