I use both, and like both about the same. At work I have Windows 7 and at home I have Windows 8.

Until recently, I'd have gone with Windows 7, but the update to Windows 8 that came out this week fixed most of the issues I had with it.

Windows 8 is too confusing, and I don't like the new platform it uses. The only good thing about it to me is that fact that most software uses it now.

I still use Windows xp on my desktop. Aunt bought a laptop recently with win8, asked me to set it up its confusing as heck, takes a bit of time to get used to. Xp all the way.

windows 7 is a good, stable OS. windows 8 is an unstable, buggy mess. and the tablet layout is stupid because it doesn't work for desktops.

Made the switch to win7 and have been happy with it. used my tax refund to rebuild my desktop with an OEM version of win7 64bit professional I also got much more ram. Upgraded to 16 gigs of ram vs the 2 gigs I had been using for years. Was a good call to migrate to win 7 vs win 8 my system is much happier now that it's running a 64 bit OS on it's 64 bit hardware. one of these years I need to upgrade my GPU as my GeForce GTX 285 is starting to show it's years but is more then enough for skyrim etc.

Chrome OS. Windows is too much maintenance and complication. And Macs are overpriced. I like gaming, and there are a few PC exclusives I have been wanting to play (Dungeons of Dreadmor topping that list), but I just refuse to deal with Windows anymore. Curious to see if Steam Machines ever come out. Hopefully they can make them more efficient, most gaming PC's are so power hungry! As an environmentally conscious species, I don't see how so many people overlook the fact that most gaming PCs use 3-5 times as much electricity as a Playstation.

Windows 7 (Windows 8 just feels more complicated to me and it feels more towards a tablet rather than a laptop or desktop).

It's not a bad feature but it should not have been used for desktops. Windows 8 was primarily used for tablets and touch screen monitors. I didn't mind using Windows 8 but with my constant gaming, Windows 7 was always superior.

8 is trying too hard to mimic the Apple interface, what with the tiles and all. I find 7 a lot easier to navigate and more traditionally Windows.
