I'm heading to Austin for South By South West on Wednesday the 13th and leaving Sunday the 16th. Just wanted to see if anyone knew of any decent or good metal bands playing. The only ones I know about are:

Iron Reagan (playing on the 14th/15th)
Black Tusk (playing on the 13th)
Vattnet Viskar (playing on the 15th)
Venomous Maximus (playing on the 13th)
Ringworm (playing on the 14th)
Lazer/Wülf (playing on the 15th)

I took a glance at the roster and here are the bands I would personally check out. Obviously you probably want to listen to some of their work on youtube but this is just imo :)

After The Burial - pretty straight forward djenty heavy music
Animals As Leaders - extremely talented guitarist, its all instrumental music
The Ocean - pretty solid, stupidly popular with some crowds
Scale The Summit - Good prog metal, no vox

Yoshiki - I was surprised to see him on the card, he's the drummer and pianist from x-japan, he looks to be playing classical music here but it would be a missed opportunity if you didn't watch him :P

Thats my two cents, take them or leave them but I did my part hehe.

Will check out Yoshiki, now that I know he's going lol

I haven't heard any of The Ocean's stuff, but I'm checking them out now, enjoying what I'm hearing so far. I was gonna check out Scale The Summit and Felix Martin, since their on the same Metalinjection showcase. I've been listening to some of the stuff on youtube aswell.

After The Burial I don't really like too much. Their not bad, just not my cup o' tea. Same for Animals as leaders, but I'm thinking of giving them a second chance, since I haven't heard too much of their stuff.

Yeah After the Burial isn't really for everyone. Animals as leaders is technical but generally laid back so it also isn't really a jump out at you band, I personally love their style though. Scale the Summit and Felix Martin on the same showcase should be pretty epic haha. Sounds like you will have a blast.
