What do you think about CR integrated into Anime-Planet, was it a good or bad move?

If I'm honest then I think that this is a good thing for the anime industry however they should've taken a site such as http://hummingbird.me/dashboard and/or http://myanimelist.net/ due to the fact that those sites have a much wider userbase meaning that they get more traffic from their users, in other words most people still won't know about CR.

But on the bright side this is a move in the right direction for the anime industry here in the western markets.

I love the integration of Anime Planet. However, I think you are wrong in suggesting that Crunchyroll should partner with MAL. While MAL definitely has a lot more users, they also give links to fansubs and give people a way to easily STEAL anime. That is the exact opposite of what Crunchyroll is about.

never even heard of it, but after learning what it is, i think it's a smart move. Now in the future if they can do something similar with bakaupdates for manga that would be great. I use that website like it's oxygen.

I've always used animeplanet over myanimelist or any other site so i'm lovin' this update. Also wondering if its just me or is there no "opt-in" button on the videos like they showed in the post.

If I'm gonna be honest then I've never even heard of Anime-Planet before CR posted that article! However I've used Hummingbird and MAL in the past, but I don't use them that often since I most likely already know what I wanna watch if I'm gonna watch it.

I use Anime-planet and Myanimelist, but haven't heard about Hummingbird before now

I think it's ok, not that it matters that much

First time I've heard of animeplanet too. I used to use MyAnimeList, but I've been using Hummingbird lately, it just looks and feels a lot more natural to me. I like to keep track of what I watch, its like an OCD of mine hehe

I've never really used Anime-Planet, but for the people that do it looks really good. I usually use MAL for database and Hummingbird to keep track of what I've watched and plan to watch, I'd love it if CR were to also integrate with Hummingbird the same way.

As an AP user, I really appreciate this integration. Now I don't have to worry about forgetting to log in a new episode I've watched. That's great.

It's also a smart business move for both sites. CR gets extra traffic, and AP gets notoriety while promoting a legal streaming service. Win-win all around.

It'd be nigh impossible to do this with MAL, since they already have a pretty deeply intergraded system of illegal download links. I know next to nothing about Hummingbird (just heard of it recently), so I don't know how well it would work there.

I think that's fair and i too already know what I'm going to watch before i go on these sites as well, but i just like keeping track of what episodes i'm on, considering that i watch so many shows at the same time without finishing them and it's hard to keep track of what episode i'm on for each anime that i'm watching. I also like how they tell you how much time you've spent watching anime - there's some sort of unexplainable satisfaction watching the bar continuously getting longer over time the more you watch anime.
