I recently just finished the series and couldn't find a thread for discussions(lock if it is a duplicate) So here it is.

Mischievous Kiss - Love in Tokyo

http://www.crunchyroll.com/mischievous-kiss-love-in-tokyo

Synopsis-Based on the manga/anime "Itazura na Kiss", Aihara Kotoko (Miki Honoka) isn't very intelligent, and lacks ability in school. She is in class F, the least smartest class in her grade. Despite this, she has been in love with the schools most handsome, and most intelligent guy, Irie Naoki (Furukawa Yuki) ever since she saw him give a speech at the high school entrance ceremony. In her third year of high school, she decides to write him a love letter, but is rejected instantly. She is crushed to see her love letter was not even looked at, and decides to give up on the jerk who rejected her without even reading it. On the same day, Kotoko's house is hit by a shooting star, and collapses. As it is being rebuilt, her dad gets a phone call from his long time friend, and is invited to stay with them. When she arrives at the house, she is in shock to see that this was the house of Irie Naoki, and his family. Although he shows a cold attitude, she realizes she cant help but love him. What will happen when fate takes over, and Kotoko's chance of winning Naoki's heart falls in her hands?(synopsis taken from wikipedia)

My opinion- Over all I thought the series was great. At times I got irritated at Kotoko for taking so much emotional abuse from Irie but I guess it wouldn't be a drama without somebody to cause drama. I liked the Ire family especially Oba-sama I thought her character was hilarious with the way she was always trying to find ways to set Kotoko up With Irie. At first I didn't care for the acting because I thought it was overly melodramatic but it kinda grew on me. I did feel like the ending was kinda rushed but it left it open for a second season to be made. The second season has been green-lit heres the link to the ANN artical http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-10-06/itazura-na-kiss-manga-new-live-action-show-gets-2nd-season. Would like to see CR get the second season of this show if possible.

Acting 4/5

Story 5/5

Characters 4/5

So thats my opinion of it. Would love to hear your thoughts, gripes etc. on the show.

P.s this is my first form topic so try not to flame me too bad.

I finished watching it recently. It was a fun bit of fluff that kept me entertained, but I never did get accustomed to the comedic overacting (those facial expressions!) on the part of Kotoko, and I got tired of Irie's mom really fast. She was clearly a necessary part of the comedy, but I guess I'm just not into that level of over-the-top silliness.

I was surprised at the quick wrap-up and just exactly where it ended up!
And now I'm especially puzzled about what a second season would entail. Where do you go from there? Unless that specific ending was just another one of those daydream sequences that were so common throughout the show. I can imagine another comedy sprouting up but there's no plot/complication that's obvious for the story to center around, so I've feeling it will be some especially contrived thing of no real import.

In real life I'd be really concerned about a girl going that far with her romantic obsession, but they tempered it fairly nicely with showing us subtle changes in the way Irie treated her, alongside the occasional bigger hint that maybe the obsessive fantasy wasn't quit so far out as it originally seemed, while still never making it a sure thing.

Thing that would have pissed me off even more in "real life": You know that episode when the girls plan to spend Christmas Eve together? Seriously not cool. I would have been pretty angry with those friends.

Yea Kotoko's facial expressions were a bit much. I couldn't help but think that if she's actually making those faces in public what the people around her were thinking.

As for the second season

I also was amused at how detached Kotoko's father was from the whole one sided crush that Kotoko had For Irie. I mean sure she was pretty much a grown woman and he could do little to convince her to give up but he only addressed it once maybe twice the whole series. I don't think he really voiced his true feelings on the situation.

I can't say I didn't see Jinko and Satomi doing what they did to Kotoko on christmas eve but it was still pretty classless! I mean Kotoko stuck to her promise and passed up everything else only to be "betrayed" by them!

I honestly felt bad for Kin-chan. He was trying so hard to win Kotoko over.
He showed that he was much more caring and hard working than Irie.

for me this was the best drama adaptation of the manga. i love how the actress portrayed kotoko, i think her over the top facial expressions was to make up for irie's poker face imo. the supporting cast were also great, they were entertaining without overshadowing the main cast and the main plot. for me over all this was a really great drama, there was just such great chemistry between the characters.I heard some people complaining on how the drama has lost its comedic side on the later episodes of the drama, but come on, the drama has to get to the serious part sooner or later.

to those who haven't watched this drama, i highly recommend it if your looking for a light series that will entertain you, it made me laugh my butt off. be sure to check it out ~

I was planning on ending it here but i just can't help mentioning kin-chan! He was such a great character, for me he was a vital part of the drama's success! he was just too adorable! if i were kotoko, i would have chosen him.

I was a little disappointed with Kotoko ending up with Irie. I with you on chosing Kin-chan! I think that he really loved Kotoko. I especially liked the fact that he didn't just jump into the arms of another girl. That kid was PERFECT for Kotoko! But anyway, it was a hopeful ending. I did like it a lot. Especially since I don't watch anime or read manga so I didn't have any particular context to associate it with or any point of reference.
