Was expecting a site news post to pop up about these two that showed up last night, but it never did, so I felt like making a post about them.

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/soredemo-machi-wa-mawatteiru-manga-25

and

Hadigirl:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/hadigirl-manga-25/videos

Personally, I have never seen this type of thing before with Manga, though I have seen it a few times on like DC or Marvel comics, so I guess I am more surprised that I haven't seen it before with Manga.

I think it is a nice, stepping stone would be a way to say it, too get more people who just watch Anime into reading Manga.

What are your thoughts on these? Do you like or dislike them? Would you want to see more?

Yeah I guess they could be considered picture drama's sort of. I have only seen a few of those as well so kinda forgot about them.

I just finished Hadigirl and it was AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING.

It was glorious.

Interesting what they can do with a few cheap graphics, some voice acting and a huge amount of Ken Burns effects.

I've never liked anything I've seen presented in this type of animation format.

I'll take a look later though.

I would never want to supplant anime with this crappy format. But when I consider the possibilities that shows that may have been too unpopular to get second or third season could potentially have a chance to finish a run by doing this, I get rather excited.

I'm one of those rare anime fans who absolutely detests reading manga- If I have to delve into any sort of source material I'll take a good light novel any day. This would be an amazing alternative for me.

I held a similar view-point, as good as a watch Hadigirl was, only a few series could pull it off.

So......keep the eggs in your basket and give it a try. The episodes are only 10-Minute in length, and I think the Manga could've been a smaller 4-Panel Gag style manga.

I might give these a try in the future. I do follow the Hadi Girl manga and it has its cute moments.

I also like that the episodes are about 10 minutes.

When I first saw the news about the Manga2.5 last summer, I checked out the titles and the prices, and while I thought the idea was interesting, none of the titles were things I'd pay $3 to rent or $6 to buy. If Manga2.5 put Poor Poor Lips or any of my other yuri favorites from JManga onto Nook Video or Google Play, I'd be buying it the next payday ... but those aren't the titles they have.

So having it coming with my Crunchyroll subscription and knowing that they'll get royalties for each view works a lot better for me from the price side too.

Also, since its halfway between anime and regular manga, I think it should be included in either the Anime or the Manga membership, for people that have only one.

I've only watched the first Hadigirl episode, but I have to say, I'm really digging the idea. I like that it can appeal to people who mostly watch anime rather than reading manga as well (I'm largely one of those people), but doesn't take the increasingly large amount of money that goes into an anime. It's fun to watch and has a distinct style, and I could see it being a valuable first step for up-and-coming animation studios.

Oh my gosh. I wasn't going to, but after reading your endorsement, I watched the first video. This seems so amazing. I can't believe it is so good.

Edit: Also, thank you for the recommendation.
