I kind of hope this isn't what the future has in store for manga adaptations, but if it means stuff that probably wouldn't get a real anime gets this kind of job and gets more exposure, it could be a healthy addition to the industry.

I just finished Hadigirl and it was AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING.

Go watch it, GO WATCH IT NOW, IT'S ONLY 10 10 MINUTE EPISODES, IT WON'T TAKE UP TOO MUCH TIME, GO FRIGGIN WATCH IT.

It was glorious.

I had no idea about this Manga 2.5 before seeing this thread, and by your recommendation I watched Hadigirl... And I agree! It was amazing! I wish it continued past episode 10!

I highly doubt this would beat out your general adaptations, even if it is scores cheaper. But it definitely wouldn't be bad for those Manga series we would LOVE to get an adaptation but just don't. It also might get them the recognition they need for a full adaptation.

Hadigirl is a cute story that reminded me somewhat of a (clean) version of "Recently My Sister". It had less motion (a good thing, actually) than the other one: "And yet the town moves", which I found too, um, I don't know, bouncy? jerky? at times. That one was on the verge of giving me motion sickness in a couple spots.

Plus, on TAN and HULU, there is the full length anime for AYTTM, which has many extra scenes and details which were left out of the Manga 2.5 version. Interestingly, it seems to have the same VAs, and Shaft is involved somehow. I wish TAN would get a ROKU channel...

So, I liked Hadigirl better, it felt more like someone reading a picture story to you. Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru suffered in comparison to the actual anime with less of the plot and character development, and, for me, it had too much motion. I still watched it, though, and if that had been the only way to watch, I might have been less critical...

Its basically the CD drama and manga with extra movement lol.

I dont mind this format at all ...I am enjoying it. I am use to listening to the drama CD along with the manga

Also watching on Roku.

Or, I should say, watched. I really liked the way Hadigirl was done, and watched all the episodes. (The ending credit music was absolutely horrible though. I'd rather it had been complete silence than completely bland "hold" music, but at least I could just fastforward through that to the end.)

But I did not like the way Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru was done--I liked the voice acting, but the way whole frames moved in and out quickly gave me the jitters; I dropped it after just a couple of episodes and will not be watching more of that.

I'll definitely be interested in watching more Manga 2.5 if CR gets more, but I do hope most are "animated" more like Hadigirl was.

The END music for Hadigirl was "I wish I were deaf" bad. lol

Hadigirl is one of my most favourite manga, it's absurdly cute and funny.

I've never liked anything I've seen presented in this type of animation format.

I'll take a look later though.

I held a similar view-point, as good as a watch Hadigirl was, only a few series could pull it off.

So......keep the eggs in your basket and give it a try. The episodes are only 10-Minute in length, and I think the Manga could've been a smaller 4-Panel Gag style manga.

This is going to sound dirty, but Hadigirl is like a doujinshi without the porn. It's intriguing.

So the last couple of these 2.5's weren't exactly the best, but I'm finding this latest one /edo-nekoe-jubei-otogisoshi-manga-25 to be pretty darn good. It isn't dubbed, for one thing, and it kind of has an air of mushi-shi about it, only with happier endings...if you like cats, that is.
