Crunchyroll is basically down. I'm getting 500 errors on a lot of pages. It took me 7 attempts to get to this page to work. My phone and computer both experience this issue.

Videos NEVER work when I'm logged in. I noticed that if I logged out I could watch content with advertisements..

What is happening?

(This point of contact is painful when the site doesn't work correctly)

Service is always down on weekend nights for the last few months. They need to fix this. I'm locked in with a one year sub and I'm not getting what I'm paying for. Contact support does nothing. They just ignore it.

Yeah but it only affects my membership. This doesn't make sense. It works if I'm not signed in.

That's^ clearly not an issue with maintenance or server load but some technical issue with subscriptions. Subscription users pay and they should really work hard to fix those issues. (Get some accountability across your IT section guys)

Getting real sick of inviting friends over to watch anime on CR on a Saturday night, just to have the site and all the CR apps to be down. I've been a long time premium member but my membership doesn't seem worth it anymore.

I've noticed that around this time on a weekend, I seem to experience major issues with crunchyroll both via the mobile app and via PS4 app (Just then I was trying to watch the most recent episode of Dragon Ball Super. 78 works, but as soon as I skip to 79 it claims there are "connection issues" or online issues or some such error.

What frustrates me is that it works on my PC (I've just started streaming it now).

Don't I pay premium to avoid such annoyances? If free uses are throttling the apps in some fashion, should not paying members get priority access?

Hell, this is even for a show that is legally available for free on a few other services, it's a bit pathetic, especially as one of the adds I recall back in the day made a big fuss of watching anime "when and how I want"...I don't recall that meaning :being forced onto PC" >.<;

You've got over a million paying subscribers now. We're all happy for that, but it's past time to upgrade to a big boy CDN solution that can actually handle your subscriber base. Otherwise you might not keep that one million very long.

So maybe put some money into that instead of extravagant contests your subscribers can't even enter?

Yeah, that's 60 million a year. Having this many problems when you're raking in that kinda dough is moronic.

Most of that money goes back to the Japanese licensors, before CR can take anything out to fund infrastructure or app improvements.

Trust me I agree with you. I wished they would fix it. I somehow got a credit card to work though. I kept getting error messages, then back arrowed the page and for some reason it went through. I got lucky but they really need to fix the problem.

You truly are one of the lucky ones.

I was really hoping to recreate that scenario to trick the system into accepting my credit card. Unfortunately it didn't work. I tried going back just after the error message and also completely leaving the "enter your credit card" page and then going back, nothing. After that I just kept hitting the submit button over and over again in frustration until my finger got tired. Apparently there is still a "problem with my card." Go figure.

It's a shame, I would have called it "The Kira0309 method of tricking Crunchyroll into accepting a perfectly valid credit card" and it would have gone down in history as a key point along the path of getting Crunchyroll to 2 million paid subscribers. All those people who are unwilling to use third party services to pay would be able to come back on board.

In the Shows section there are 2 instances of assassination classroom. They are both exactly the same and if you watch an episode on one it displays it as watched in both of them.

1 You are correct about the licensing / it was rumored Amazon Prime paid $1,000,000 for a 12 EP anime last year

2. That being said with CR / FUNI thing going on it should be able to get better deals !

3 Is it neccessary for CR to grab like 90% of the animes when a lot of them have few viewers .

4. How many are drama viewers ? People forget a lot of Asian people in the US like to watch their shows from home which arent on regular US outlets?

5. I see some shows that probally would have been on FUnimation are getting diseed here on CR . I always felt that some shows should be on FUNI ( the fans there tend to be open-minded in general )

6 So what does CR do with extra money they have a convention for the West Coast / sponsoring NYC anime conevention / Dont you think there are enough complaints to start upgrades on equipment / Deosnt the parent companies reinvest / they are a part of AT&T

7 It likes loading a single axle truck ( w/o airbrakes ) to 80,000 lbs when you need a tractor with trailer . First it's unsafe / illegal . If you dont kill somebody the tires would blow / suspension driveline would break let alone you probally couldnt even steer it!

8 I think thete have been enough W.E failures that this warrants attention.

9 I do not know how the system works but not only you are streaming North America / a lot goes worldwide what strain does that put on the system ?

LOL darn that would have been epic.

If you want the specifics. I went to the renewal page, added one credit card. Error. Put in a different credit card. Error. Back spaced to the previous page. Credit card magically there. Clicked it and payment went through.

How many times do I have to send a forum post and not get a http error 500? You guys are either being attacked by a botnet or your server ports are all filled to their max???
