No sarcasm here. I really do love this game. Bring on the hate, my body is ready! Can we please talk about this series for fun here and not trash talk? I am sorry not every game is FFVII, or FFX, but we must move on.

Why do I love this game? Well simply it was the first FF I have ever played. I am sure I would have hated it if I grew up with the others, but since I didn't, I love it.

The linear aspect of the game is the ONLY thing I do not like. I love the characters whether you hate them, or not. I personally think Lightning is super bad***, Snow has a cool fighting personality (and he is voiced by Troy Baker), Vanille is only annoying when you are in battle, I do not think her normal cut-scene dialog is annoying, plus she is fan service so cut her some slack. Hope seems to be everyone's least favorite character, but I personally think he is a great healer and at the end of my game he had the highest magic out of everyone. Sazh is cool because he seems the most "real" of the characters, like they took some dude and stuck him in the world haha. (You can relate to him). Lastly, Fang. Fang is alright, but there was nothing really extraordinary about her in my opinion, plus what she did in the end of the game pissed me off

As for the story, I LOVE the story and the lore of the world. Barthandelus really makes you wish to destroy him throughout the game and the satisfaction from getting rid of him, Eden, and Orphan at the end really drove the climax forward. In FFXIII you really get a sense that Cocoon and Pulse are depending on you to save the world.

The music is amazing as well. I actually own the imported $40.00, 4 disc soundtrack for the game.

And then.... there is FFXIII-2.... You can probably imagine if you have played both 13 and 13-2 that I do not enjoy 13-2 as much based on how much I loved 13. I have been told FFXIII-2 went back to the more traditional FF roots while keeping the same battle system, but personally the game feels so foreign to me. The story is way less climactic than it's predecessor's and I really do not like Serah all that much. Noel is pretty cool as he kind of reminds me of Cloud from FF7. Also about the story, they completely wiped 13's story out of the window and added the whole time travel BS. I spent so much time actually understanding 13's story and then they just completely go a different direction? I didn't even know time travel was possible in this FF13's lore up to this point as it was NEVER once mentioned in the previous game. The music is waaaaay less symphonic and more electronic, and the lyrics in some of the songs are unnecessary. The battle system is pretty much the same, but they add the ability to use monsters instead of a 3rd party member. This is a pretty neat idea, but to me at least, it seems like the monsters are less effective than a 3rd party member and I couldn't attach myself emotionally to a monster. Another thing about the battle system is that I enjoyed running up to the monsters in 13, but now there is the whole Moogle clock thing that I do not enjoy as much.

Meh I could go on, but I won't. In wrap up, love FFXIII despite the hate. Dislike XIII-2 significantly, but I still enjoy it. Haven't played XIII-3 yet since I haven't beat 2.

I'm glad to see there's someone else in the world who wants to praise FFXIII outload. I think the first two games are fantastic, and really fell in love with the world and it's characters. Noel's story is so depressing! Well worth the time playing through the game. I for some reason couldn't get into XIII-3. RPGs are for my relaxation time, and the countdown timer is very stressful and often frustrating. If the clock runs out before you get to the final day, you have to play the game all over again.

XIII is a really good game (and I have played all main FF titles except for 2, 3, 5, and 6). It just wasn't the best. My favorite ever is FF XII. If you do like XIII though, continue with the sequels. XIII-2 is even better (mostly because Snow isn't in it very much) and Lightning Returns is the best of the three. It has a dark storyline set during the last 13 days before the end of the world, and you are tasked with saving as many souls as possible before the end. The time management system is kinda frustrating at first, so I would get the strategy guide and plan some things out ahead of time.

I LOVE the XIII trilogy. Love the world, battle system, story, characters, and most of all, the music.

Like everybody else, I didn't like how linear the first game was, but all the other aspects of the game were fantastic.

I was hesitant when I saw the trailers for FFXIII-2, but turned out to love the game most of all. Some of the music tracks were weird, but warmed up to me. And while I still don't really like Serah, I liked seeing the history of the world change and meeting familiar characters again. And the battle system was even more addictive with trying to make the best custom paradigms with monsters.

Lightning Returns was my least favorite of the three, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The timer was frustrating at first. I like to spend a lot of time exploring and with 13-3, I felt like I needed to rush. But I soon learned that I was wrong. It was easy to farm EP and thus freeze time temporarily, so by day 6 or so, I had very little left to do. I also had the guide book from the get-go, so I had plotted out the most efficient way to go about things (because I didn't want to get a gameover). I don't know how anyone without the guidebook could complete the game in one run, though. Without it, I would have been lost and would have been pissed to get a gameover and have to replay the same content in a new game+.
I loved the ending of Lightning Returns, though. ♥ Left me feeling satisfied.

I also ship Vanille x Fang so much. ♥

Not really a spoiler, just an image:

I also enjoy the trilogy. The first one hits Steam on the 9th, but sadly does not have japanese audio. There's a 1500+ post thread on the community hub about it. I'm personally in favor of the original audio, because as iconic as Lightning's english dub is, it can only go so far with that monotone. Oh and Vanille's voice in english gives me a different impression than the japanese one gave me (prefer the japanese.)

The English voices are good though I wish they had the option for J voices with subtitles. The graphics and beautiful maps and music, and characters and some themes make it something I will always love, it just makes me feel good lol.

Yes, exactly I too would love the option between the original audio subtitle option.

i enjoyed playing the first two but like someone had mentioned i didnt like the fact that there was a timer on 13-3. it just made everything stressful. that and the fact that if you didnt win a battle you lost an hour so that made the time go even fast. which i learned you dont have to deal with if you play the easy mode. then depending on how many side quest and canvas of prayer mission you did you got extra days or not. the only really cool thing was the costumes that lightning got to wear in it. but i like the series as a whole the storyline was good i thought.

I absolutely love FFXIII!! Lightning is really awesome. My usual battle team was Lightning, Hope, and Fang. Not many people like Hope and Fang, but Hope's magic is greater than Vanille's. Fang's strength doesn't exactly match up to Snow's, but I believe that Fang is a better character and has better attacks than Snow (strictly my opinion).

FFXIII-2 was not as good as FFXIII. I like Serah's abilities to control monsters. However, I wish she would have been an overall stronger character. Her magic is great, but her strength is definitely lacking.

FF Lightning Returns is awesome. I have not finished the game yet, but the story line is pretty good. The only downside (again, strictly my opinion) is that I feel like I don't have as much freedom as the other Final Fantasy games allow.

FFXIII: Strongest story of the 3 suprisingly.
FFXIII-2: Most refined and enjoyable gameplay of the 3.
FFXIII-3: Uh, well, it's the uh, 3rd one of the 3. It has more focus on Lightning Waifu and that;s all anyone needs. Yeah.....

Update to my previous post, that thread is up to 5000+ and its focused on optimization of the game since Japanese audio with subs were added. FFXIII-2 was also released. Optimization for both are atrocious though.

Even though I consider FF13 to be one of the worst FF games out there, I still really enjoyed it, and I still thought it had a good story. FF13-2 is the worst in the series, and lightning returns would be the best gameplay-wise, but worst story-wise.

I really do like Final Fantasy XIII, it was fun and one of the best looking games I've ever played.

It was those God-forsaken sequels it got that I have a problem with

Glad to see that someone made threat like this. I guess it's time to give myself some time and start writing about the whole trilogy. Hooo...

First, Final Fantasy XIII. I don't know why i bought it but i don't regret it. I actually bought it in early 2014.

It should be noted that it's the FIRST FF game i actually played. I also have played it twice and collected all the Trophies. I'm planning to play VII, X/X2 and XV later but that's another story.

Now the actual game. I'm going to list the things i Liked, Disliked and Balanced; things that have good and bad sides.

Liked:

Disliked:

Balanced:

I guess that's much about it. Despite that there are some of the flaws, it's still a great game. I give 8.5.

There are some things i left. That's why there's "Everything Wrong With" videos by someone, not me, on that. It explains lot more, like Snow survived that fall in the beginning.

Moving on, the sequel: Final Fantasy XIII-2. Not much to say about this but might as well make another list.

Liked:

Disliked:

Sorry, but i'm not a such a big fan of that game. Still, collected all the Trophies. And again, there's a sin video. And so, 7.5.

Finally, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

Liked:

Disliked:

Balanced:

Not much else to add. 7.0. And again, Trophies.

That's pretty much it. If anyone starts ranting, know that it's my opinion. Also know that while i play the game, i also explore the flaws and such. I'm no game reviewer but what the heck. Gamers can do that too, right?

Finally, big thanks to the guide books. They were such a huge help, especially in FFXIII-2 side quests. Saved me a lot of time and trouble.
