Some of you probably don't know,
but there actually already exists a movie series for this title.
It's a 6-episode series with duration of 1 hour per episode.

Now, I'm all for more Break Blade but a remake?
And 12 episodes at that, seriously?

Am I the only one who is not here for it?
And please leave reasons like, "its all business" or "it 's all for the money"
out of this. What do YOU really think?

Since I have yet to see the movies, maybe, and also because some people are more likely to watch it now that it is in episode format.

I downloaded them a while ago but it was without subtitles.

If you want to watch it, all six movies are on crunchyroll under the title Broken Blade.

It isn't a remake, it is just taking the original movies, reformatting them into episodes, and adding some new scenes.

As each of the 6 movies is roughly the length of 2 episodes, there would likely be a slight bit of trimming of scenes required, even before adding the new footage. As such, I don't expect that new footage to be very long in duration.

I suspect a good part of the intention is to try and generate enough interest for a continuation. The total cost of this probably isn't more than making a single episode-length OVA would have been, but it gets the exposure of a single cour series.

Im pretty sure its the same studio of Xebec. And i doubt it will have any more improvement to the animation and sound since the movies themselves are of high calibre already, the blue rays themselves are great also.

On topic here, im pretty sure this is to gauge how much interest is with the current audience and whether it is enough to warrant another string of movie episodes or another season.

the movies were pretty good, and having the additional scenes will be nice. I wonder if they'll make an adjustment to the ending to make it match the manga, though. either way, I hope it's a good sign for a continuation. after finishing the movies, I went and started reading the Break Blade manga, and it's awesome. getting to see more of it adapted to anime would be great.

"Break Blade" Apparently Replacing "Space Dandy" on Japanese TV
If, as it appears, "Space Dandy" is going way this April, don't worry baby...

The 2010 six anime feature adaptation of Yunosuke Yoshinaga's mecha manga Broken Blade are set to be adapted into a 12 episode TV series to be broadcast starting in April. Previously unanimated scenes, such as the Girge vs Spartans battle, will be incorporated into the TV version.
A new TV OP theme is by Sayaka Sasaki, while a new ending is by Aira Yuhki.

It's set to run on Tokyo MX at 11:00pm... which happens to be Space Dandy's current slot.

If, as it appears, Space Dandy is going way this April, don't worry baby... it's a poorly kept secret that Space Dandy isn't a one cour series, as animator Hiroyuki Okuno has already mentioned working on Masaaki Yuasa's (Tatami Galaxy) episode 16.

I think you guys are missing the point. The 6 OVAs were terrible from episode 3 on-wards. They've completely taken away Girghe's backstory and downgraded his fights significantly. Then you've got Rygart's fight with Borcuse that was completely botched as well. The strategy was depicted much better in the manga and Rygart actually gets affected by Girghe's death in a more substantial way. This re-make had to be done!

For those of you who haven't read the manga yet, I highly recommend it. Since it's being animated by the same studio, I'm not having high hopes for them to rectify their mistakes in the OVA.
