i know most main males in harem anime are usually dense but are their any female characters (main lead or not) who are the same (in harems) or close.

I found the heroine of Amnesia to be pretty dense.

Hmm...I think that for most female characters, the equivalent of being dense is being a tsundere. I mean...you really don't see guys being tsundere very often. I'd...really find that strange, actually. Other than that...I find that the girl is pretty much only dense whenever she's in love with a dense boy who happens to be in love with her, too.

nah, being dense is more like airheaded girls. there are tsundere guys, and they certainly aren't dense. look at Mahiro from Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. totally tsundere, yet he's competent and gets what's going on.

Tenma Tsukamoto, of course, though to be fair, she's in a romantic comedy and not a harem.

edit - but aren't most protagonists of reverse harems just as dense as males? I don't quite remember, since its been a while, but consider looking at a few - like Haruhi Fujioka, Haruka Nanami, or Hino Kahoko, I don't remember, but one of them was probably dense lol.

Oh man, Haruka in the Uta Pri anime was bad.

But that can be explained away by two things

1. She is a blank slate for the player/watcher to project herself onto

2. The anime was one big advertisement for the game. No one got any real character development, main character included.

As much as I loved the idea of Uta Pri, I don't have the game, and I just couldn't watch the anime because she didn't react at all to any of their advances. It was so boring, I dropped it and only watched the parts where they sing. ;-;

Don't forget Ranma Saotome from Ranma 1/2!

He's not just Tsundere, he can turn into a Girl! He's dense as hell, but not in the aloof way, in the stubborn way. He's extremely competent yet absurdly selfish, which is a bad combination.

As far as dense female characters go.......

Akane Tendo, also from Ranma 1/2, is famously dense. She doesn't understand anything, always judges things at face value, and she's violent. She's essentially a female Jock, something that the rest of the cast never lets her live down. Of course, she reinforces the stereotype all the damn time.
