we have a thread about the worst adaptations... so how about the best?

i have a few:

Gintama. wouldn't have touched the manga with a ten-foot pole if it hadn't been for the anime.

Soul Eater. Yeah the ending was kinda lame, but up until that final battle it was a pretty faithful adaptation, and fun to watch. and imo the manga ending wasn't the greatest either lol.

Tonari no Seki-kun. Even though the episodes aren't in same order as the manga, it is episodic so the order doesn't really matter.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Hunter x Hunter (2011). Especially the current arc I actually prefer this arc in the anime, though at the moment it's SO faithful to the manga it kinda tears my nerves lol.

Attack on Titan. from the other thread:

What are some manga you think were adapted fairly well?

Hmm well my experience is limited, with Anime only being just over a year and Manga at 6 months. I only read 2 Manga so far that have had adaptations after I started reading which are this seasons runners Nisekoi and D-Frag. Both of which so far are getting pretty good and faithful adaptations.

Kannazuki no Miko

Wish it wasn't so short.
2 volumes?
Come on.

But the anime adaption was MUCH better than the manga.

I would say the first two seasons from The World God Only Knows were pretty good, the third one misses a lot of things from the Goddess Arc, but it nails the important moments.

Shaft is doing a great job with Nisekoi, the only problem is that at one point in the manga it's mostly filler with cliché after cliché that might hurt the anime adaptation in the future.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for sure. In my opinion, it would have been the perfect adaptation had they not skipped over a few things, like Ed and Al's original encounter with Yoki.

YuYu Hakusho is actually a better anime than manga if only because the anime ending is miles above the manga's. I felt the manga kinda just cut off and ended with Kurama filling me in on the aftermath. The anime greatly expanded upon the ending, putting a lot more fight scenes and we actually got to see Keiko and Yuskue meet back up (which is another thing that Kurama had to explain to the reader rather than show it).

Trigun actually is a really good adaption; the changes made sense and the overall themes were still greatly conveyed to the watcher.

The new Jojo's anime has been utterly fantastic, better than the manga in my opinion; hyped for Stardust Crusaders.

Gunslinger Girl, Black Lagoon, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, Gantz, etc. -- all had good anime adaptations. As for which are better, I'm not going to go there as I think their have both their own strengths and weaknesses compared to their source materials. But, as for what I liked in the adaptations that weren't in the manga (just few examples of many):

In Gunslinger Girl:

In Black Lagoon:

In Birdy the Mighty: Decode:

In Gantz:

Gin no Sagi is doing a pretty fair job of sticking with the manga's storyline.
Also, there's:

Gunslinger Girl
Ranma 1/2
School Rumble
Strawberry Marshmallow
One-Pound Gospel
Mu Shi Shi
Full Metal Panic (though they chopped it up, sequentially, to make Fumoffu)
