So, while I was at work today (I work at my local Home Depot store as a Cashier), I had a male customer younger than me come up and ask me if a certain metal was magnetic because he was building a transformer. I said to him all confidently 'Oh, I know what you're talking about now', thinking that he was talking about Transformers as in the Robots In Disguise, but when he started describing what he was making I realized that I was mistaken and that he was actually making a real electrical transformer. Luckily I didn't let on to that fact and was able to help him with what he needed.

I was just wondering if any of you have had similar situations at work or in school or life where your nerd/geek side has taken over your brain and you thought one thing about it when it was really another thing. Just thought that it would be a fun topic.

You know you're a nerd when youd rather play video games than go out with your friends

When you say geeky/nerdy things to people that look at you like you got issues.

Yeah that happens to me at work when someone talks about games. They say "I'm a nerd"!. that always makes my ears listen intently. They continue "I have been on Call of duty for 5 hrs straight. My thumbs are numb".

(I've played 19 hrs straight on many JRPG and many of you have played RPGs longer I'm sure, so this guys statement turned me off and made me laugh)

I asked if they played FF XIII or if they will play the new X 2 HD when it comes out. Then they say "You really are a weird guy, those games are for people with no life".

Another time with Star Trek, they claim to be nerds for watching the new movies. I thought they were talking about Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home or Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. They never heard of these movies. So yeah I feel like a big f-ing nerd all the time.

Haha, thats pretty cool story there

I work at a hobby shop, so most of the time it's packed with males. Anyway a couple of the customers always ask me if i enjoy work here because I don't look like the type of person that likes to play card games. I told him that I play yugioh, and i went on and on LOL

When I correct the spell checker.

When I watch Star Trek TNG.

When I work on my computer or learning coding.

When I read big fat books that are so old in content they're bilingual in case anyone wants to make their own translations.

When you know how many frames it takes for a move to come out, how many frames of recovery is needed if said move is blocked, and how many frames of hit stun (read: advantage) is given when said move hits in games like Super Street Fighter IV

What do you mean by Nerd/Geek, cause around where I live it's like knowing more than the average person about something.

Basically that, but knowing about games, anime, fantasy, sci-fi stuff, things like that.
