I know I'm a nerd when I get all fuzzy inside when I see my favorite otome company has released a new character for me to play. There is also the fact that I would rather watch anime or play an otome game instead of socialize. I turned down beer olympics last weekend because I was behind on anime.

What do you mean by Nerd/Geek, cause around where I live it's like knowing more than the average person about something.

Where I live You only need to read books to be called derogatory names.
One of the local libraries has recently closed.
Many people don't care but I see it as a sign.

Honestly guys, playing games is not nerdy. Nor is knowing a lot about some random popular story. To be a real nerd there has to be at least some intellectual and the stuff you do shouldn't be popular...

For example quoting from wiki

... overly intellectual, obsessive, or socially impaired. They may spend inordinate amounts of time on unpopular, obscure, or non-mainstream activities ...

Knowing a lot about Star Trek or Star Wars is far too popular to be considered nerdy Oh, and they (nerds) love xkcd (without exception ) For which matter, let's quote xkcd on this matter

And finish off with a bit of a more detailed venn diagram like

or

(The first one is actually better, but I had to do the second one as well so that I could finish this comment with the following line), but you know, the real way to recognize nerds is seeing whether they write comments like this and use venn diagrams to support their points

A sign of more things to come.
Humans are notorious for changing their environment to suit, instead of bettering themselves and if this anti literacy trend continues, I'll be regarded as a local wizard instead of the crazy guy on the bus.

As someone that has read a few textbooks for fun and was teased for it by back in college - I kind of accepted learning for the sake of learning is the sign of it. I was a bit shocked by how intolerant people in college were of my hobby since I assumed if they majored in the same thing as I they would find it interesting.

Some people here are confusing geek with nerd. Won't elaborate on that though.

When you see a word such as... rooster and you think "lol Rooster Teeth" or instead of a halo on an angel you think of the 7 giant ringworlds that can destroy the galaxy in Halo. Even numbers like 360: Xbox 360 1337: Gaming in general or you see an event and think "I swear I saw this in GTA the other day." Or, did this last weekend, you find yourself glued to your Xbox One playing Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare for 16 hours straight and power-leveled your cactus to level 7 and you're player level is 19
