I would say it's probably a smart idea for anyone actually into anime to keep a list on MAL. It really is the most helpful thing, especially the plan to watch list. Some times I just randomly pick something out of it and have fun.

It is hard to type for me. You are so cruel demanding answers!

The number of anime I have seen is arbitrary. The only benifit I get out of it is a bragging right. Specials and OVA 's? Surely you don't count movies too? All the DBZ extras alone numbers 16. I even own those physically.

But they are but one series.

It is too easy to blemish that number.

I have seen the majority of Gundams
I can list of pilots and Mobile Suits.

Ive done more than seen it. I'm a fan. That is worth something to me.

Apparently I've seen 222 shows, not counting movies or OVAs.

Total would be 281 completed.

On MAL of course.

Well it's important in the context of this conversation. Whether you've seen 10 anime or 1,000 would make all the difference. So how many anime do you like? You remember all of them so it should be quite easy(still expecting an answer on this one).
I count everything, what's the point in having a list if you don't.

BTW it doesn't even look like you're addressing my questions. Here, I'll make it easy for you and your kindle.

So you'd recommend anime you think are horrible just as long as they have impact? And you don't think an anime you would rate as 9/10 or great wouldn't impact you?

Because that's what they want to watch. You bring up a musical reverse harem when they want one. What you like may not be what they like. And if they had a list then you could look at theirs and see if they like that sort of anime. That would be much better than just going off the ones you like regardless of their taste.

Like I said, that only works for so long. I can't remember all the titles of good books I once read years ago, nor can I remember the same about the anime I've watched after a couple of hundred watched.

On all of the anime you've ever watched? And only those studios? And what about airing dates, how many episodes(specials, ovas, etc), etc too?

What about letting others see what anime you have watched?(for recommendations or other reasons) Anime names?(never forgot one, even just how it's spelled?) You've never wanted to keep any info about an anime?(a filler list, memorable quotes, things that happened in the anime that you didn't want to forget, etc) Keeping track of airing anime? Or OVAs?

It's simply difficult to answer a question or review a post when I'm spending my time trying to type with my awkward stupid fingers. I'm not a finger typist you know! I've been properly trained in typing, not finger bashing! It takes me near 20 minutes to write these few sentences here! Every typo and every miss-type take another minute. I hate this kindle typing.

It's rather easy to find a show to recommend. While I was posting that, I was watching my sibling shuffle through anime on Hulu+. I noticed something odd. When viewing Oran, the recommended tab was filled with high-end and rather famous Shoujo. Fruits Basket, Say "I Love you", Toradora, and free.
But while viewing Amnesia, it offered 3 other Reverse-Harem anime. All of them about a girl learning about music and multiple boys with variously crazy hair colors.

I've seen many anime, and while I wanted to list off every damn studio out there I considered worth a damn(Aka, ignoring Arms), that's not so amazing. I also don't see too much a deal with air dates. I use the Early&Late split. Shows during the late 90's have a different look to them than those from the early. Neon Genesis Evangelion came out in 1995, and redefined the Mecha Genre which Martain Successor Nadesico previously parodied in 93. The difference every 5 years is rather substantial at times. Compare Mobile Suit Gundam of 79+ to the sequel in 85. That quality jump is substantial. Gundams in the 90's all share a similar astetic to them, compare Wing to Turn A and After War X.

While I don't mind others knowing about what I've watched, I have never sat down and counted them. Many sites that list them off for me I find rather meh. Additionally, I still hold the stance of it being a waste of time. When I go through someones Anime Lists, I don't check what they've seen, I check what they haven't. I can simply ask someone if they've seen what X show is, and if they have I can talk about it. If they haven't, I can suggest it. I might forget a moment or exact quote, but I DO remember a good story. A story is measured by how much it's remembered, if I can't remember it, it wasn't that special.

Yea, I would! Isn't that the entire appeal behind Elfen Lied? School Days? What about Studio Shaft? A lot of works from them star generic story with generic characters in generic plot twists with generic art. But have you SEEN what they do? The visuals and indirect storytelling has made them really damn popular of late.

I remember a book in which the ending involved the Heroine defeating a massive dragon, taking his heart out. Using that heart as a Lantern to light the passage of a large tower that went endlessly into the sky. The dragon lived at the bottom of the tower as it's guardian. After walking up the endless steps, she lost track of time. It turns out that it took her 300 Years to reach the top of this tower.
I remember nothing else about this book, but I read it when I was in 6th Grade. That was the climax of the book. The book had an impact on me, and I still remember that one scene.
I've seen several hundred anime myself, I can't even remember the name of several of the more absurd. I'm actually looking for one right now, about a young boy who is turned into a girl, and then spends his high school days trying to turn back, but ends up with a bishounen boyfriend in the finale.

Battery is dying, I'ma have to leave it here for now.

I use MAL for keeping track of that stuff. I've been watching anime since I was around 11-12, but I've only completed 76 anime. Seen alot, but rarely watch/complete anything.
