I'm not a mangaka or anything professional like that, just curious. . . . .

If--IF--i were to make a manga that quickly shot to fame and became a hit, what do you expect to find in it????

Eg: what kind of genre is it likely to have?

(You can add your own thoughts)

If it were this easy, everyone would have a hit comic ;)

A unique setting can help, but that is usually best for action or drama series.
I would say that finding the right mix of using common themes/tropes or character types, while at the same time subverting traits just enough to make the characters enjoyable.
Comedy and Slice of Life also require strong character interplay.

At the same time, you don't want to make things overly convoluted and complex, or it can become a trainwreck.

If--IF-- You were to write a manga that was to shoot up in fame it would have to have the following:
1 A heroic and sexy protagonist
2 Scantly clad romantic interests
3 Dastardly evil villain(s)
4 Strange plot twists
5 Wondrous locations
6 Soul crushing despair
7 Epic fights
8 Deep, heart-felt, passion and romance
9 A secret treasure
10 And the end there is the need to leave your reader going wow that was great

This is if you want a manga that would shoot up in fame and become a hit. I'll leave the details to you

To me it doesn't matter what the base of the story is, as long as it is not predicable.

Don't forget your audience! Do you want to make a seinen manga (one aimed at adults/older adults)? Shonen manga? Manga for women (or men)? Historical manga? Fantasy or Sci-Fi? Steampunk or Cyberpunk?

I'm predisposed to seinen manga (Black Lagoon-style, but taking the idea farther), but I'd love for someone to take a crack at making a manga adaptation of H.P Lovecraft's work.

CTHULU VS. GODZILLA! Make it happen, please!!!

start with spin-offs, to gather an audience interested in reading your stuff, then knock-out them with something original.

the ones that typically make huge hits are those from Shounen Jump, so idk, make a dense strong protagonist with lots of powerups and have a lot of hot guys and you got your fujoshi and then lots of scantily clad women and you got the boys umm don't forget nakama power and lots of friendships that don't have much solid basis but somehow they're all best friends.

That made me lol. So true.

Warning: I went on a bit of a tangent here. Got a bit too into it.

Have attractive characters with strong personalities (doesn't matter if they're original or have any depth, just make them stand out somehow), an adventurous plot, a couple twists and turns that aren't really unexpected but are exciting nevertheless. Have a lot of battle scenes, with a few important ones that drag on for chapters at a time - this is exciting! And intense! Oooh!

The main character is at least somewhat dense. He's a good guy (always male) and has good intentions. The characters around him include, but are not limited to: at least one love interest (preferably two), a strong mentor figure, a best friend, a rival, an enemy, an enemy legion, and a tsundere or freakishly strong female (who can and probably should be the love interest).

Some part of the series must take place in a school. Main characters are all teenagers. There is a training period for the main character to hone his newfound abilities, which are preferably supernatural in nature. He got them after a certain life-changing incident somehow involving his family's past. He has a sad, murky past, whether he knows about it or not.

Have a good balance of serious and comedic moments. By "a good balance", I mean that whenever things get too serious, throw in some inappropriate comic relief. Forget mood and atmosphere; those are worth nothing here. Also have that one character who literally does nothing but provide comic relief.

Have a good dose of life-threatening situations. You have to kill off at least one important character. You can always bring him back to life miraculously later.

Above all else, be VERY DRAMATIC with your storytelling. It's all about delivery. You gotta go big or go home. Any emotions your characters feel should be so overwhelmingly intense that the readers can literally feel it through the paper. Did the main character have a spat with his bff or love interest? DOOMSDAY. Did the main character lose a minor battle that wasn't really all that important to the story in the first place? THE WORLD IS ENDING. Did a kawaii tsundere cook what is supposedly food and make the main character eat it? GOD FORBID THE HORROR.

Don't be afraid to be outright absurd. Toss logic out the window. All that matters is that your readers enjoy the ride.

I honestly think the best way to create something that good, it has to appeal to both sex, not just one or the other. Or even if it's leaning towards one more than the other. It has to have that sort of balance to where both genders are content with the material. you also have to have an interesting story that can go on and on and on but yet still have an end to it. If you need good examples look at One Piece, it has a set goal and it still running strong when it could have ended sooner than it's going to be. same goes for a manga called Double Arts, except people weren't interested in it and it had lasted only 23 chapters. yet i felt it was better than most of the stuff i'm reading now, inculding bealch naruto and one piece. the 3 most overrated series, and it's all because i thought the story and goal were just great. anyways i know this was long and all but i hope it was helpful in some way and not just a time waster.

Quality graphics is extremely important... we usually pick up mangas based on its cover & quality of the first few chapters...

In order to keep your viewer coming back for more... the introduction arc has to be good...
... IMO, to write a good intro... you'll have to quickly get the user familiar with the worldly setting of your manga, Character needs to have their personality defined ASAP & lastly the mood/ atmosphere of your story has to be clear...

Also, it would help if it has a good summary.
