I did hear this has a pretty rude fanbase (I suppose the tweet is an example).

It is mainly due to how poorly the first episode followed the light novel. Leading to fans burning thier novels to protest against SHAFT. Something of that nature. Honestly I didn't find the first episode too special either.

It wasn't absurdly different from the manga, I can't comment on the novel though. While we're still on the subject, who the hell preorders a show before they know if it's good or not?

The same reason people preorder games I guess, much hype and exclusive merchandise.

Question, why the F are people burning the NOVELS? The novels were pretty good, volume 5 was a real shocker but it does contain important info that can change how you once viewed an incident or character. Also the novels were written by Jin and illustrated by Shidu. By burning those you're destroying the creator's rep not SHAFT's.

The fan base in Japan is really messed up. About a month ago I saw angry tweets from Jin and Shidu talking about how KagePro fans went to animate and started harrasing other people FOR APPARENTLY NO REASON. I know the series is misunderstood but situations like this are reasons people avoid a potentially good series.

The source material is a bunch of songs, though.

This better trigger SHAFT into fixing the animation even if it means delaying the TV run for a couple more weeks.

People just need to take life less seriously it seems. This is entertainment. If they focused all that energy on making the world a better place instead of ripping on a guy's work of fiction, we'd be living in an utopia at this point.

Episode 2

And now, the scene shifts to Momo, who is so popular that she misses the bus. Her popularity has deprived her of a normal life, and now it is taking its toll on her as she is running away. That was just another weird episode brought on by Shaft's bizarre visuals.

After another dozen minutes of silence, and the track of Mekakucity Actors, I looked up just what the genre for the series is. Comedy. Excellent.

I'll see if the second half of the episode is better. Though I can't compare the light novel to the first episode, I'm sure the pyromancer fans were in the right, lol.
