Hmmmm......seems this was a let down for a lotta peeps here.

Though are there any other Vocaloid fanworks that would make a good anime? There's a couple I think would be fun, but I'm not too knowledgeable regarding the Vocaloid fandom, so I'm curious as to what others think.

I absolutely LOVED the first episode. In fact, I loved so much about it, I cannot think of a single thing that I liked about it to point out...

I enjoyed it. I'm not really familiar with the other media this relates to, but the first episode definitely held my interest. And I actually really love the visual style, probably because it's got Monogatari's aesthetic, which I really like, without the multitude of things I didn't like about that show. So it's actually kinda a plus for me, even if other people think it feels a little too recycled.

Still going on about that, eh? It's not a fanwork...

edit: sorry about the multipost.

I just watched the first episode.

At first, the hikikomori character and his virtual companion intirgued me and then the twist of these folks with eye power got me ... well unsure ...what the direction of this one...

but interesting enough to make me want to continue watching .

I like the animation and art style though.

Well hm that was shafty if I do say myself. Whilst I haven't seen everything shaft made I did see some of their work and two seconds in and yep it's shaft being their shaftyness. Do I like it? Well it was confusing that's for sure so hopefully it becomes clearer later on but I was intrigue. I've seen worse first episodes (looking at you Imcho) so color me interested.

I just am not fond of the idea of a loli girl spirit as a computer. Other than that it is somewhat interesting. Just not something that rings "Oh I can't wait for the next episode!"

Ene's not much of a loli, if that makes you more comfortable. She's just wearing an oversized jacket.

I had her pegged as a spunky teenager.

If I'm wrong, please use spoilers for any info that's not in the show yet.

Yea, I think you need to change your definition of loli. And spirit. This is clearly a computer program. And cursory glance will suggest she is a teenager, probably. Unless you were really being literal, she must be a 2 year old computer program. So yea, I guess she is still underage. THAT'S WHAT YOU MEANT RIGHT?

To quote myself:

"Vocaloid fandom is a weird thing: there's some videos of Ren being some Marie Antoinette figure, (Servant of Evil or something its called?), and all sorts of videos where the Vocaloid software and character designs are used as the basis for telling different stories: that's what I mean by a derivative work. There are different ways works can be derivative. For example, writing a fanfic about Final Fantasy characters, here it is more heavily derived than say, writing a fanfic about an office worker at ShinRa: the latter still a derivative work, even if it's mostly original characters, etc.

Some Vocaloid fan works, like the Ren video I described, are more like the example of writing a fanfic using the characters directly from Final Fantasy: the character design of Ren is pretty much what her Vocaloid design is, and character relationships (can't have Ren without Len, as the video shows), etc.

Mekakku City Actors seems to be more like the example of writing a fanfic about a ShinRa office worker: using the base designs and software for telling a story, but like how the hypothetical office worker is a ShinRa office worker, things like Ene being a twin-tailed blue-haired AI girl make it clear where the work is being derived from."

She seemed more "dirty moe" than loli, but yeah, those kid-like attributes (like the long sleeve thing) seem like a weird attempt to merge jailbait with loli.

Yeah, not literal loli but sounds like a loli. Or at least moe

And I hope you realize loli is not the same as moe. >_>

You can just google that. Have fun.

She doesn't really strike me as either, really. Ene's more of a bokukko/genki hybrid with maybe a little aidoru.

Now where'd I save that chart...
