She doesn't really strike me as either, really. Ene's more of a bokukko/genki hybrid with maybe a little aidoru.

Now where'd I save that chart...

Ooh, I needed that. I still can't get behind Nagato as a kuudere, but that's neither here nor there.

Agreed on Ene though, she's just boisterous.

I just meant the voice, I didn't mean the personality. What do I call it? A little girl voice?

I call it 90% of female anime character voices.

Oh, gotcha.

You were throwing around character archetypes so I was confused.

Sorry I don't usually like to watch in subtitles because every girl in Japanese sounds like they're nine years old. I'm only trying out simulcasts to see which ones are worth watching despite annoyingly voiced females. This one is losing xD

I was meh about the first episode, because it really seemed like Shaft used their style as a cost-cutting measure here. Lot of static animation and a lack of real action in it. The terrorist thing was way too perfunctory for what it was, and the animation was too flat and monochromatic to be considered beautiful. Most of the episode was just a dialogue between two people at random points.

I don't mind shaft's style in general, but it has to fit the story not obscure it or cheapen it.

After rewatching the episode I decided I'll give it another chance. I still like the manga much better, but I'll stick with the anime to see how Shinbou's style plays out here. I'm not very used to it, but the second watch convinced me there's still some chance this could be good. Plus, there's also the issue that I can't legally read the novel version as of now, and Comic Walker is pretty behind on the manga as well. I do hope the anime becomes popular enough that either one of these two other adaptions will get localized here.

Guys you're all wrong, Ene is actually a Tsundere

And as time passes we need to create a character archetype for Kido because she either fits into several or none at all.

All those confused about the story, don't worry you'll understand later. I'm not being sarcastic but you'll also begin to like each(or most) character and maybe relate to them. Everyone is pretty interesting and their pasts are well thought out.

I have so much complaints for the animation though. It felt like SHAFT spent all their budget on Nisekoi because they thought it was the real cashgrabber even though Kagerou Project has a larger fanbase. They aren't consistent with the animation at all and it didn't have the same feeling like the songs did. I'm not going to drop the series yet since I've been following KagePro for at least a year and I loved the songs and novel. I still have expectations for this anime and the story and characters could turn out great.

I personally like Shaft's style a lot. For me, Shaft's show seem to get a boost from the animation style. I can tell how it could be disliked by some, but it really is an interesting style.

As for the show itself, I did find myself wanting a bit more from the first episode. However, I did enjoy Ene's character very much. Probably most of the reason I will enjoy the show will be for her character, but the premise of this organization and people with powers (although its nothing new in anime) will hold me through the series...probably.

Apparently this is a controversial show in Japan for some reason, so you can expect boycotts and the like. Not sure how controversial though, so it might not be a big deal. In either case though it's fanbase politics, nothing story-related.

The stigma might hurt sales though, especially if the anime itself isn't outstanding.
