Yesterday (The night of 3/10-3/11) and tonight (3/11-3/12) my computer has been unable to reach crunchyroll during late night hours.

I consulted this site and it said that this was not an isolated case, and that your servers could not be reached. At the time when I'm writing this the last time the server was down was 10 minutes ago.

If possible, I'd like to have an explanation from Crunchyroll staff explaining the situation

I doubt any staff are working at this hour, we'd have to wait til tomorrow for a response from them.

Thanks for being able to sign on to make this Forum topic post, for me it was down from 8pm-10pm PST on 3/11.

Can't watch anything on Apple TV, iPad, Nexus, PS3, XBox 360, or Roku. I'm finally able to watch on my computer and post on the forums. CR please let us know what happened.

FYI ... It's about 4:30 AM (EST) and I'm able to stream from the site and my iPad.

I noticed that the other night, as well.

Given that we are coming up on the time when the new player should be released, and changes made to the CDNs, I would hope this is related to necessary preparations for that.


I've noticed that customer service hasn't been making it into the forum as often as they used to (that comes after they've finished with an e-mails and "Contact Us" submissions, assuming they aren't running behind). Given that, I'm offering this as speculation in the event there is no response here.

The site was being attacked on both of those days. We're deploying measures to help prevent this.

Any time the site and services goes down, we are aware and drop what we are doing to work on the issue.

I had issues too . I was going to cancel the free membership but couldn't log in. Good thing though , convinced wife to let me keep it (for now she says) .

EDIT: Whatever you're doing isn't working... This is the third night in a row it's been un-watchable.

Since the videos are served by CR's contracted CDN and not CR itself, I would expect the video to be affected only if the DDoS attack was directed at the CDN servers (which I expect would affect other services using those same servers).

I suspect any issues you are having with the video streams is a separate issue.

The site access issue appears to have been due to the DDoS attack, which appears to have been resolved (at least for the moment).

Have your video issues been resolved?
