Hulu has an absurd list of content, and I suggest you view it.

Crunchyroll has a slightly different selection, and is focused around new releases.

I tend to use Hulu to get high-quality old-school content. Anything Crunchyroll doesn't offer. I've actually had a lot of problems with Crunchyroll when watchign older Anime. Kenshin, Fist of the North Star, Pretty Cure, and a few others. The sound desync's all he time for Crunchyroll, but Hulu doesn't have that problem.

Add's are horrible sure sure, but....not that bad. Hulu is a T.V./Machine tool. Put it on your living room T.V. and watch it with friends.
Crunchyroll is an internet thing, use it on your computer.

As somebody from the UK, it is 100% irrelevant to me how much anime Hulu has.

On top of the key differences everyone has pointed out so far, the biggest one is that CR gets licenses for countries other than America.

Hulu doesn't.

That's like saying Mojang shouldn't participate in videogame expos because they only released two games.

They are still a very important part of the online anime streaming service. If not for Crunchyroll, there are a large amount of countries that wouldn't get any new anime at all. If I ever went to a con in the UK and saw a Crunchyroll desk, I'd thank the fuck out of them.

Premium VPN will make that a non issue... but yes... for the UK instead we have Animax UK and the funimation youtube channel (much of which is still locked out though... ) and viki (a range of internationally licensed anime including "Rocket Girls" which was kinda fun)... ah, there's also the Nozomi Youtube channel, but that's mostly for trialing to assist DVD sales... so still far from complete, there's no one piece streaming without a VPN or piracy, (though the first 103 episodes are finally being released on DVD which is a start).

I use CR, Hulu, Netflix, and occasionally Funi or ANN.

Pretty much any legal site with anime.

I don't pay for all of them (only CR and Netflix) because I can't afford it. I don't mind ads nearly as much as some people seem to.

Do we use a different CR here or something? Given yes CR doesn't show everything everywhere, but as far as getting simulcasts... i'm fairly certain they get a good portion of everything that airs, at least for the last couple of seasons they have. Far more than 35% at least from what I have seen.

Also CR and FUNi are really the only big players when it comes to getting Anime in the States, so of course they would be at conventions. Not to mention CR at least can get some simulcasts out to other parts of the world other than the States, so that in a sense makes them even better, and a better reason to be at conentions.

I was using Hulu until I started getting 150 seconds of ads per break and decided I didn't like mental torment.

Would you really choose ads over this site?

I'd rather torrent the stuff I can't find here than watch it on Hulu in all honesty.

Lady, You took the words right out of My mouth! Plus as many have mentioned, Crunchyroll has a vibrant, intellectually objective feel as far as the Community goes. Whereas things like Hulu, and Netflix...Places/Things like that don't give a damn about the thoughts, and feedback of You; the Customer and User. Not Your interests, and CERTAINLY not Your opinions. Not one bit. Me? I'm QUITE happy that I chose to use the ole' Credit Card to
become an All Access User here on the Roll that's Crunchy. I'm glad that here on CR You are able to still be able to rate Others Comments and Posts that other Users make in the typical "YouTube" type manner, and it always puts a Smile on My face whenever I see a Notification in the Inbox indicating that I have gotten some type of new 'Achievement' from doing various things here and there across the Site. Though I have yet to make any Friends, I did finally try My hand at joining a couple Groups and left several Messages upon them as well. No replies as of yet...But..I'm hopeful!! Anyhow, Crunchyroll is the place for Me and I'm glad there is such diversity among the many different Users here, Hailing from many different Genders, Cultures, Ages, and Locations. Our Uniting thread?

Anime and Manga. Ja ne!!! ^_^

I feel Hulu sucks. I don't want to pay to watch a 22 min show with 8 commercials that's what I have a TV for, but with my TV I can always change the channel then go back. When I was a free user here I got at most 3 commercials one after the op one at the half point and one near the end which I didn't mind because it was only one each time and they were fairly spaced out compared to Hulu which does them three at a time or just one real long one. Also I hate how Hulu outsources to other sites like unsubscribed to Funi they use Hulu to show their shows but when you are a subscriber they have their own player.

We go for a lot of reasons LIKE

IT'S FUN

WE LIKE TO MEET FANS

WE ARE ALSO FANS

Also we want to come to UK cons! I think very soon~

And 35% seems very very very wrong to me ~

If only crunchy could deliver decent bandwith. I get a feeling it's now less terrible than it was in the autumn, but every now and then I still have to just give up in exasperation and try to continue watching later. It's that bad, even with SD. 1080p is mostly impossible for more than 2mins, unless cr has a really really good day.

I've never had a problem with getting HD streams, I didn't know it was as prevalent as often as it's mentioned. Of course I pay for the highest quality service Comcast offers and while Comcast may be full of scumbags, they deliver on the streaming end of things for me. And I never watch simulcasts which I hear are more often problematic.

Never been a fan of Hulu though, the ads no matter what get me. Funny enough I actually had a Hulu membership that I was paying for for like a year and never noticed it until a few months ago. Couldn't even figure why I even bothered to pay for it since you can't get rid of ads, but I think it was a trial I signed up for (that required card info) and I didn't cancel so they started charging the card.

Yeah, if you aren't watching an episode right when it is released you won't have a problem. I have the fastest speed Charter offers and I still have freezing issues with simulcasts. This is my only complaint of CR, hopefully they fix this issue soon.
