I really want to get my costume sorted out for May but I can't find a proper shirt anywhere for my Chopper outfit.

Ive got everything else sorted but I have had no luck in the shirt department. Just for reference this is post-timeskip Chopper I am talking about.

Thanks for any help

You mean this one, right?

Do you have access to a sewing machine? If you got a couple of t-shirts (one yellow, one white), you could probably cut strips from them and sew them back together with the alternating stripes. Otherwise, you might have to go with some fabric paint. Put a piece of cardboard inside the shirt to protect the front from the back, lay down masking tape to mark off your areas and get nice lines, then brush in the yellow on a white shirt.

It looks kind of like an old-school beach/surfing shirt from the 50's/60's, but those are probably really hard to find these days, even at secondhand stores...

Yeah that is the one, and unfortunately I dont have access to a sewing machine otherwise thats what I would have tried, I might have to go with the fabric paint. I've always wanted to cosplay as him and it would be my first so I wanna make sure it's done right

Just be sure to protect the front from the back, and follow the instructions on the bottle - it should be pretty simple, and it'll look good. Set aside enough time to do extra coats of paint if it's thin, and make sure you don't buy the puffy paint!

Also, wash the shirt at least once before you take it to the con, to make sure the paint won't bleed on you (the paint should say if machine wash or hand wash works best). I always sweat in costume, so any color that isn't set ends up on me and other parts of the costume.. no fun A quick wash beforehand should make sure everything is working properly.

Oh! And post some pics when you're done! Can't wait to see how this turns out
