Akari's silhouette dancing with her hammer in the OP is all I need to see this series through to the end.

Chaika's speech pattern is awesome as well.

I probably will never be able to take Gilette seriously with that name. >.>

I haven't seen Scrapped Princess (I probably won't either), but to me, this anime is pretty good. There's certainly a lot of questions being asked right about now, but I have come to really like this. This episode was interesting, and that blonde lady that showed up in the end....

You should definitely watch Scrapped Princess. Characters are great, story is really different than what you would normally expect from a medieval fantasy as well. It's kind of like a mini-version of FMA Brotherhood I think.

I really enjoyed it, and SP is one of the few series that I would actually rewatch.

A great surprise anime of the spring season.A lot of intersting things going on,Chaika is easily one of the best Characters also. She has a lot of abilties such as driving the carriage! The rest of the ensemble is nicely rounded out too!

BTW quite the appetites

An all right transitional episode. The biggest thing this one did was add more mystery to Chaika. Just who, or what, is she?

it's a show that should definitely be watched, especially if you like this one. since it's an older show (2003) not really sure where you would be able to watch it legally.. also, since it was licenced by Bandai, physical copies are probably impossible to find now.

To the darkside I shall go then

Great episode!

I really like Akari! Her kuudere personality and her brother complex is such a good mix. I actually hope they get together. They aren't real brother and sister anyways, it's just a label they have since they grew up in the same orphanage.

And Chaika is just too cute. I love her caveman talk and just her overall well-being lol. I'm just wondering what the hell she is. The beginning scene of the series tells me that there's a lot more to her than meets the eye.

It's worth it. I've been watch Scrapped Princess (not because of Chaika, but for other reasons) and I'm about halfway through and really liking it. The characters are really well rounded and have a number of different sides to them, which is sadly a rarity in anime sometimes.

With regards to Gillette, I heard it's actually supposed to be Gillet, with the name taken from the Belgian car manufacturer. Supposedly the family names in this are all taken from the names of automobile companies. Googling the first hero's name, Abarth, shows that is also a car company. (forgive me if this has already been mentioned earlier in the thread)

I'm pretty sure she said it in episode 2.

And I think this is a little different than SAO. Sugu literally had -1% chance of ever having a relationship with Kirito and it would have been too weird because they grew up as brother and sister. In Chaika, this is a way different situation because they're more like childhood friend than actual siblings and Tooru isn't in any type of relationship. There's still a chance they could get together

Watched Episode 2 and 3 and I'm still really enjoying this one. Yeah the animation budget is quite smaller compare to Captain Earth, but the execution they do with this anime is fantastic. The set-up, characters, writing and the setting all really good. I reckon this one is not going to be mind-blowing but it will still be a great one.
