I really, really want to like Captain Earth but I just can't get behind it. It started off delivering just about every single cliche in mecha and I don't feel like it's bringing anything new to the genre or even executing its cliches well. I haven't seen this weeks episode yet but...I mean...is it improving? The animations gorgeous but I feel like I'm forcing myself to watch it.
I'm five episodes in and I still can't remember a single characters name. That's not normal for me...

I know how you feel, but I think it's because the show forgets character's names themselves. Captain Earth is REALLY bad at character introductions. Like worst i've seen the last couple of years. There's been a bunch of characters who, in the episode that highlights them are never referred to by name, or when they are referred to by name, they aren't in the same room, or put into context so you know who the hell they are talking about. The only reason I know the boy alien's name (Amara) is because I wikipedia'd it. Until Episode 5 I thought that evil scientist guys real name WAS Salty Dog, because's that what they called him. But it's not his actual name!

I'm only watching because of the giant mecha (chicks dig giant robots) and that OP. That OP man, too great

The opening song is pretty good, ya. I'm watching the show is kind of enjoyable so far.

My only major gripe is the character of Hana. They keep telling us she's like this super mega awesome important character to EVERYONE'S plans but then never show us why. She has little to no character development either, as in most episodes she's in like a minute and a half of the whole ep. (I haven't watched Episode 6 yet)

Hana's a big fan of nudity, apparently. I think she's actually a candidate for main character over in Daimidaler.

No...according to the Episode 6 preview, he has an actual name. What it was I forgot already, but- there you go.

Episode 7

Decent episode on most parts but some of the battles feels a bit more exaggerated. I like how they do deal with a little bit of history there though.

That little critter named Pitz or whatever it's called is more useful than I had thought. It was actually right too about the Kiltgang. Grats on the MC for becoming a leader I guess. He's got responsibility take now.

I'd like some of Hana's melons if you know what I mean

Episode 7

Nice episode! I just love all the characters in this show. To me, it seems like the battles are the least intersting part of this show. I'm basically here for everything except for the fights, they're just not that good.

Also does Teppei getting a livlaster mean that we'll get a new mech? In the preview I spotted one:

Agreed. The fights are just so underwhelming!

Pretty good episode, though I was.....distracted for most of the episode. *cough*Malkin in lingerie, Akari's and Hana's skintight suits*cough*

So....Teppei is mortal now, isn't he? He needed his Ego Block to be immortal, so now next time he dies, he's done for good, right?

WEll I watched a few episdoes in a row and I though this mecha anime is pretty decent.

I think its much better that the ones that came out in the past few seasons.Yes there are cliche here and there but that didnt bother me.They have same ideas here and there from other more famous mecha anime but that didnt bother me.

What would bother me if the story and the characters are written poorly. I feel not all characters are developed yet but it still getting there

Ep 7

Takao's a douchebag.

That's really all I need say. Dude took credit for the other guy's work. That's just low.

Agreed, Takao's "You took it with my camera" line was disgusting.

Dunno if it's been discussed before. I want to know what's going to happen once Malkin or Amarok's Ego Block is destroyed. Will they lose their identity as Kiltgang or will they fall into despair?
