I hope they develop more of the romance between Tanyuu and Gin, I really loved that in the first season.

Also I can't wait for Fantasy Friday to start!

I've actually been planning on watching Jojo's for a while now, and so now that Crunchy has announced that they will have the first season as well, I will finally stop putting it off, hurry up and watch that. So I can start the new episodes and enjoy them alongside Mushi-shi. Hooray for Fridays!

Ah... I haven't watched the first season yet.

This is a problem.

I find that thoroughly astonishing!

Not really. Mushi-Shi has one of the loosest continuities ever. There's like literally only two recurring characters in the first season, the protagonist Ginko and a doctor friend of his(and he only appears in a couple of episodes). It's an eposodic series. Unless they suddenly change that, you should be able to just jump right in. Maybe watch the special/movie from earlier this year(it should still be on CR, right?) just to get your feet wet with the style, theming, and structure of the series. But beyond that you should be good to go as is.

That said it is still totally worth watching the first season, cause like I said earlier in this thread, it's one of my Top 10. And I actually suggest watching the first season dubbed, cause I honestly do prefer Travis Willingham as Ginko's voice.

Agreed about being able to drop into the show with most recent OVA that is already listed on CR. The only thing that might deter someone from watching is the pacing. That's part of the charm IMO but that is something to consider. If someone can't sit through the OVA then they won't like the series.

I'm excited that the original cast and crew is back for Season 2. I'm hopeful that the "feel" of the show that I loved will be there. The OVA didn't disappoint. I'm stoked for Friday!

I thought about it, but I'm going to go ahead and finish the first season first, then catch up on the second. Mushishi is really great, but not at all as dense as Kino's Journey, so I don't feel like I'm missing out by setting a fairly fast pace.

I'm about halfway through it now so I'll definitely be up to speed by next week.

i think it's a good idea to watch the first season before the second ^^

tbh the thing i'm most curious about in the second season is what the opening song will be ... for some reason i doubt it'll be as amazing as the first. Which i have memorized now lol. But who knows, I hope it'll be good. ^^

And once again, Mushishi captures the essence of the show at its best. Yay for a second season. Good start to the episode. That OP song is also beautiful.

i really enjoyed the first episode, which really isn't a surprise ^^ the ending was really pretty with all the mushi floating around.

i love that the OP has the same calm, acoustic sound as the first season. Looks like another one to add to my music library.

Is this series possible to get into by skipping to the second season or will I need to watch the first one also?

Fantastic First episode. Also, as others have already said, that OP is legendary. Also, loving the aesthetics. Looking forward to more!

You probably can watch the second season first, as the shows are mostly individually episodic. You won't have as much background on the main character, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it can fill in later when you go back to watch the others. There are quite a few anime which present non-chronologically, and my own opinion is that this one won't suffer too much from doing that. It just may seem a bit more mysterious than it otherwise would, but since each show is about discovery of something new (to the audience), it'll be OK. Probably.
