Yea... lol did you watch it at all it was quite good actually for an academy ecchi anime. In fact makes the plot for highschool DxD look linear.

I don't know if it was a second season or just the second arc but to me it seemed like Sword Art Online changed quite a bit and that's trying to look past the incest plot.

You are correct, it's one thing I hate the studio for, since the original story actually had "storyline" that was just bumped over entirely in favor of fan service. The settings may be fan servicey in nature but that's no excuse!!! The male to female dominant society role reversal, the entire of volume 6 of the novel... most of the roles of Gotanda Dan and Ran...

... I feel a lot of pain and resentment over that last point since those 2 are my favorite characters...

umm anyway, I'm going to throw a curveball and say "Gokujou Mecha Mote Iinchou." The first series had an underlying plot setting that was rather interesting, that kept the series from becoming too much an overly "Tokusatsu" like repetitive plot. that also advanced the romance story-line as well.

... the second season was like something created once they ran out of plot material from the original manga to advance the plot with... so they just invented a new school and characters to create a temporary rivalry with and used that to fill out a second series while overlooking a large amount of the settings development over the first series that until that point had remained consistent. That series really was almost entirely Tokusatsu like.

that was the actual plot... although the story was reduced quite a lot for the ALFhelm arc... considerably so. There were a few plot points that need to be revisited come later arcs as a result when the sequel arrives... assuming it gets that far.

Darker than Black. Holy crap that second season was absolutely terrible. I just consider it a bastard child and refute its existence in the back of my mind.

I know what you mean, the red hair girl is like they forced that character into the story... it was one the worst/shittest 2nd season anime.

I would like to say Sword Art Online... (If you consider episodes 14 and on a "second season")

The first fourteen episodes were absolutely amazing IMO. After the season finale I really wasn't a huge fan of the way they took the show ... I mean it wasn't bad but it had NOTHING on the first season... The change of pace was too drastic for me lol.

P~princess Kenny. So beautiful, so kawaii. I love you. That game was hilarious.

Yes, but that is the only anime I've ever personally seen that made me want to chunk my monitor out the window to avoid watching that second season.

There are few shows that lost its way through the second cour.

Infinite Stratos 2 - It introduces a group of baddies with some connection to the main character, but it was never fully explained.
Sword Art Online - The first season tells a complete story, but the second season totally gets away from what it did so well in the first half.
Accel World - The second half is spent on the main characters being separated from each other, all while a totally pathetic menace uses underhand tactics for selfish reasons. Not exactly something worth an entire cour's worth of episodes. All this happens while the main dilemma presented at the start was never addressed. Gotta have a second season.
Nisemonogatari - This season just sucked considering that Koyomi is hitting on all these girls, rather than sticking what it did so well in Bakemonogatari.
Chihayafuru 2 - Spending an entire cour's worth of episodes on one tournament wasn't what I had in mind.
Aria the Natural - While the first and third seasons are awesome, the second wasn't as enjoyable. Pretty much it was mostly random stuff and it got to be really boring.
Ah, My Goddess - This season was full of filleresque material and not much of a story to go along with it.
Eureka 7 AO - The show started out strong, but then things got totally repetitive and then ending is pretty unsettling.
