Guys, is Cross-Road a Movie or just a damn commercial... All the info I find says it's a commercial for some school.

Yes, it's a commercial, but it's a beautiful commercial. I suggest thinking of it like Spike Jonze's music videos: If you like their movies, it's fun seeing them apply their talents to more commercial work.

I guess... I hope the next movie they make will look like this, though.

So, I watched the movie I didn't own yet. For some reason I skipped over it and went straight to The Garden of Words, which is actually my favorite of his movies though depending on my mood I'd say 5CM ties it.

The movie I skipped was Children Who Chase Lost Voices. It wasn't my favorite, I actually paused it and thought if I wanted to keep watching it at one point. I see all the similarities to a certain studio's works and I tend to not enjoy those films. It is just my personal preference. I would categorize it as a neutral movie. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. I guess I like his realistic and sci-fi works more. The messages were good, I liked how they handled it for their story direction.

.

Pretty much sums up my take on it. But overall I did enjoy it and would recommend it to anybody & everybody (especially fans of that "certain studio's works").

A Shame "Garden of Words" isn't available here, but I've already seen it on another streaming site, so not too much of a big deal.

Does CR always have a Global Shinkai Day every year? I never knew. Well, I'm fairly new here. Either way, this is definitely a nice treat.

Makoto Shinkai is my favorite director and I've bought every DVD of his I could get my hands on.

I promote his work every chance I get. Most new members of our anime club have never heard of him, only of Japan's other great director whose movies are more aimed at families and kids.

I am VERY disappointed in CR for announcing this great event with so little warning... only one day ago, according to your post, and it's already SUNDAY here on the West Coast and MONDAY from Europe to New Zealand!

The event apparently started BEFORE you announced it and BEFORE you posted about it!

This happened in a prior Shinkai event, too. Shame on you for announcing so late instead of promoting at least during the week before it started.

so does this mean you'll be removing these movies after the 17th
Yes, for the rest of the world other than the United States. Even Canada will lose access to them for another year.

SO IF YOU WANT TO WATCH THEM WATCH THEM NOW!!! MARATHON THEM ALL DAY IF YOU HAVE TO!!!

I have the ones I love on Bluray (Garden of Words, Place Promised in our Early Days, 5cm/second) or DVD if Bluray was not available (Voices from a Distant Star). Children who play with Lost Voices I don't love so much but... perhaps I'll see if my kids want to see it.

We're happy to see there are many Shinkai fans abroad.
We were originally going to end it on Sunday at 6pm pst but decided to extend it an extra day because we announced it a little late. We will try to keep that in mind for next year. Sorry ( ´・ω・`)

It started a few years back (I don't remember when exactly), but yes, this is a yearly thing.
