So a few years ago I watched the old HunterxHunter. I sadly ran into the end, watched the OVAs and so forth - but greed island I think it was called? Cause I was getting tired of the two younger boys training.

But I loved it.

Will an old fan like the new HunterxHunter? I heard its more fast paced, and I don't know if that's really a good thing.

It sticks to the manga more closely and has a lot less censorship. They take a few liberties here or there but overall its MUCH better than the first series they made. If you like hxh you will adore this one way more... well I do at least ;D

Oh and it's faster paced not just because of action but because they do way less introspection and dwelling on things, the pacing itself is just much more solid and masterfully pulled off.

If you aren't watching Hunter X Hunter 2011 you should be.
It is one of the best on going animes atm.

I watched all 120 episodes in 48 days. One of my friends watched it in 20. If that isn't enough of an indication, then yes. You should definitely watch it. I haven't watched the original, so i can't compare them, but i definitely know that i love the new take on HxH.

I kind of liked some introspection though.

But you watched both and liked both? But this one you think is better?

Yeah it's just as good if not better than the original one. I suppose the only thing is the 1998 one had a slightly darker atmosphere with the choice of lighting and music but that is about it.

Generally speaking the original spent WAY too much time lagging on things that did give depth to various characters, however dragged the story on and didn't add enough to really make it viable imo. I would say the first one was great for it's time and the Greed Island arc was awesome, though if you compare the two the new one crushes the old one in every aspect. It also has a considerable amount more content as they go into the chimaera ant arc which wasn't even touched in the old anime.

It is well worth your time to get into this, you will fall in love all over again with this series. Obviously I'm just speaking for myself here but that is how I truly feel, this new one is a masterpiece and should be loved by all

Imo, it's just as good as the original although the older version has a more nostalgic vibe to it. The Greed Island arc is also much better done imo and obviously, the animation quality has improved with the remake.

Alright guys.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I'll give it a try then.

It's just, going to be hard to knock that old nostalgia of the old one. I kind of liked the dark music and such.

But it sounds like the new one is worth a try.

I hope I fall in love again.

I've never watched the old one but really enjoy it my friend and I watch it over the interwebs usually the same day that is simulcast. Moved along pretty well until the latest arc been slow now may be because a voice actor died and they were replacing him but its moving like dragon ball z at the moment. Still great though lots of build up

This one is animated by Studio Madhouse and will age so well, it won't feel Nostalgic.

I feel the quick-moving plot and fantastic color-pallet match the series better, even if the dark look had it's own charm.

That, and Madhouse is the best at Action Choreography Animation.

it is faster paced. it starts from episode 1 so you might want to skip a lot of it. its a lot faster as far as more story in lesser episodes, but they might have done that just to get to the chimera ant arch. you should just watch it.

I've never watched the old one, but the 2011 iteration is in my opinion the best shonen of this type that's currently airing. So I would imagine any fan of the material would enjoy it quite a bit.

It is great, in the non-cliché sense of the word.

If you liked the original, I'd be surprised if you didn't like this one.
