I have several suggestions for the manga service. Some of which I am sure have been mentioned elsewhere but I am collating together all the "problems" I have found so far.

These are based on expectations from various sources. Yes, some are based on usability from "other" manga sources. But these are also based on my experiences of services like Kindle, ComiXology and CR's own video streaming.

Some of these I log as being iOS problems. They may also happen on Android or the web but I can't say for sure.

Cross- platform Favourites
Unless it's well hidden (not impossible) or I'm just unobservant (sadly, not entirely unlikely) I can't see my favourites and bookmarks on the website version.

Pesistent Login on iOS
Come on! Your video app remembers who I am whenever I load it. But your reader app doesn't? That's an inconsistent experience across your own services.

Automatic Bookmarking
Marking episodes are read, unread, current and storing last page read really are standard expectations.

I opened ComiXology for the first time in months and it remembered where I was up to in a comic I've not read for over a year. Yet the CR manga app won't store where I left off five minutes ago.

Chapter Skipping (iOS)
Once in a chapter there's no way to quickly go back and forward a chapter. And although proceeding form a final page will load the next chapter, going back form a first page won't load the previous.

Page Count and Load Progress (iOS)
When in a chapter, I can't see how many total pages there are and how much of the chapter id loaded in so far. Which makes quickly paging through an older chapter difficult.

Chapter Titles
Not always present in the list. Makes trying to locate previous event difficult.

iOS Content Restrictions/Rating
Probably because it is a 12+ app rather than a 17+ app. But, really? I have an iPad. I can't justify buying an Android tablet and I won't read stuff on a website. (I have a tablet and an old kindle for a reason...)
A title that doesn't show up on the app doesn't make me get up and go to my laptop. I'm more likely to just seek it out through other means. Because I can't hold my laptop in one hand whilst lazing in bed or slouching in my armchair. Which is how I read. (And I am sure I am not alone in that)

Pretty much sums up all the problems I have with the manga feature.
It's a pretty new feature though, so they'll probably get around to fixing it soon enough.

Actually there's no mention of any content restrictions - I just assumed they weren't bothering with the new Anno manga on the iOS apps. Is that why they don't show up?

I'd been assuming the reason for the missing chapters was content-related. It's not just the new stuff, two of the original manga that were offered are also not on the iOS app.

However, Sun-Ken Rock is on iOS (and it's got some pretty disturbing content that I would have thought would have kept it out off the app, if there was a content restriction) so I'm no longer sure.

However, I really, really hate reading on my laptop. I really, really love reading on my iPad mini. So at the moment, much as I'd like to read some of the titles that aren't on iOS, they simply are not getting read, and probably won't be until/unless they get added to the iOS app.

It's mostly speculation but there are only really two reasons something wouldn't be on the iPad version. Either the iOS content restrictions or not getting a license for distribution to a mobile platform.

And as A Town Where You Live does show up on the Android CR app (I borrowed an Android tablet from work purely to test this), the only reason that would explain an iOS only gap in the library is Apple's content restrictions.
And although I've seen apps with that (relatively mild) level of mature content in them on iOS, they've mainly been 17+ apps whereas CR Manga is a 12+.

From the CR manga db, the following 6 manga are listed with non-zero values in the rating sections. I don't have an iOS device to check, but if both Fairy Tail and Attack on Titan are available in the app, then it would be reasonable to assume that any series with a 4 (the ratings range from 0-4) isn't listed. As for manga that are pretty graphic but are still in the app (ajin is pretty violent for instance), it is probably because they have all 0's for ratings.

Manga and their internal ratings:

These are all of the same problems I have with the app, good job putting it all in one place, I hope they can work out all of the kinks now that they have a good detailed list to go on.

Interesting. I wonder how those ratings get in there. AoT and Fairy Tail are on the iOS app, so I bet you deduction that it's the 4's keeping things out is correct.

A Town Where You live rated 4 for sex? Really? Really?

Well that's BS right away. I'd certainly not rate it as having that high a level of sexual content. I'd maybe rate it as a 3 myself, certainly not most of the time but for when it occasionally edges that far.

No way. 4 would be for titles like "Hetakoi", "Nozoki Ana" or "Nana to Kaoru" (especially Black Label, you could possibly sneak the main series into 3, just about), "Kiss x Sis", "A Girl by the Sea", probably "Koibana Onsen" and many many others.

Yes, I have read a lot of manga (through various means) in the past year or so. Some family friends and many titles either frequently/overtly sexual or borderline hentai. So I know what should be deserving of a maximum rating and what probably shouldn't. And "A Town Where You Live" is not in either of those categories.

So basically what's keeping it off the iOS app is a rating that is quite simply wrong. This is something that absolutely must change.

My suggestions:

- A button for a list of recently updated manga.
- A button to follow a thread.

- Remember image zoom setting when reading.
- Laptop: Read manga per page while zoomed in and scrolling down the page. (most manga sites do this).

Well, there's the "Updated" filter on the manga listing page. beardfist's Chrome extension can provide that second functionality.

The IOS app has been updated and most of it covers everything already mentioned.

Automatic login
Cross-platform favorites (cept web based)
New releases being marked new
Keeping track of how much of each issue you have read

And some others that I'm not going to mention.

My current problem is that I keep removing a bookmark from one of my manga's and it never goes away.
