I haven't seen a lot of buzz about Accel World around here, (Probably because it isn't on CR) So I figured I would try to spark some discussion here. I for one loved the show and then decided to catch up on some of the more recent LN's. This book was also created by the same Author who made Sword Art Online (Kawahara, Reki) so any SAO fans will definitely want to check the show and books out as well as they have similar styles. Unfortunately not all the LN's are translated like SAO but there are translations on BT for volumes 1-5 as well as some sporadic chapters in other volumes.

What do you people think about the Light Novel so far past the anime? I'm just dying to know what happens in volume 7, but I cant find translations anywhereee. English releases by Yen press will be coming out soon thankfully, July 22nd will release the first volume.

(Also I wasn't sure if LN's are allowed in the "Manga" section, but this does have Manga done as well, just not as much story covered.)

Haven't read the LN's yet but I thought it was a much better anime than SAO. SAO is choppy and has 2 episode fillers throughout. I felt there was more of a story in Accel World.

A lot of people hate the main character Haruyuki Arita because he's fat, unattractive, and bullied. Unfortunately from what I've seen, realism by the SAO community is looked down upon as a lot of them wish they could be gamers trapped in a VR world and be the center of a harem. There's a lot of negativity centered around Haru because he isn't enough like or as cool as Kirito. I for one enjoyed his character. Makes for much better plot development anyways.

The animation and music is high quality. SAO had beautiful animation too so there shouldn't be any complains about the fight sequences and what not in Accel World.

I wish they would greenlight Accel World. They've already announced SAO 2 and if Log Horizon or Attack on Titan doesn't get a second season after SAO, I hope Accel World would. One of my favorite series. I definitely need to read the light novels.

P.S. SAO fanboys: Viewpoints and opinions expressed are solely my own and based off observations in my surrounding area and from the anime community. If you have a problem with it, exit is to your left.

Oh I definitely agree, SAO has a lot of time skips which I realize makes a lot of people mad (along with the below average Fairy Arc), however even with that I would say the Aincrad Arc was on par with Accel Worlds story. That said I also agree SAO is probably liked more because of the MMO genre being tagged on it, I was a MMO player and still somewhat am for a long time, and people love to be able to relate to things that they see and say "Hey I did something like that in *insert game name* before!"

At first I was put off by Haru as well, but then I realized how different it was to have a main character like this, a person that is insecure about himself and hates how he looks it was great for character development which I thought was fantastically done throughout. It would have been easy for the author to now all of a sudden make him a cool person or someone that is cool because of the significant advantage he now has with acceleration, but he doesn't do that. Reki continues to press on the mental and emotional scars that Haru suffers. *Slight story spoiler doesn't have much significance where I'm at but maybe does later.*

SAO fans who might be put off by Haru need to give him more than a couple episodes the two protagonists are pretty much only different from a real life standpoint. Other than that they are similar in the virtual world. Why would you want him to be the same as Kirito anyway? Anyway my greatest pull to this show was Kuroyukihime for me, she is a great character and still has a lot of unexplored territory such as her non existent family, and even her real name for F SAKES XD. Hopefully they create the second season to this, if they do volumes 5-8 in the story it will be a helluva season that's for sure.

I haven't read the manga or LN but that is what I loved about the Accel World anime and that character. I liked that reality. It was a little frustrating that his progression toward having more self confidence through several successes in the story was so slow, and filled with relapses--but that too is realistic.

CR just needs to bring Accel World over here period...

Btw, Yen Press licensed the LN and the Manga, looking forward to reading them. ^_^

Love Kuroyukihime ♥ They only insight they give about her name is when her best friend (can't think of her name, having a brain fart ._.) called her Sa-chan. And then there's a whole conspiracy that she's the daughter of Asuna and Kirito but I don't buy into that lol.

I LURVED the show, and would really like to get the light novels and manga, eventually. I was almost giddy when this first came out and the MC was an insecure, chubby, teenager. I'm not one to complain about the typical hot headed, eventually overpowered protag that shows up so often, but I just thought Haru was fresh and sympathetic. I also really enjoyed K-hime's character. The girl really is a little overpowered, yay, and she's not ever really a damsel in distress.
Actually, I thought they did well with all the charas. I liked this just as much as I like Log Horizon. We really do need several seasons of both of these shows.
