I love them, love them, love them! Wuxia is even better than those cheesy romance stories.

wow, finally a thread for the greatest genre of series ever
favs: RoCH 06, and 00; The Smiling Proud Wanderer ; Duke of Mount Deer (lu ding ji)
Bi Yue Jian (Sword stained with royal blood); LOCH the 90's version forgot exact year.

LXN for best character, then Yang Guo, then Hong Qi Gong (beggar leader in LOCH), Du Gu Qiu Bai is also pretty sweet

In terms of Wuxia in literature.. I quite liked a recent series with an original title of "Tian Guan Shuang Xia" by Zheng Fung (or however you spell that).. that's a pen name.. and the author is a female...

In terms of television/drama -- i think the only wuxia drama series i watched in its entirety was Chinese Paladin. It's not an adaptation of a book or series.. but it's still considered wuxia, isn't it? ...

i like other works some members have already mentioned.. but i never got to watch all the episodes... they tend to be long anyways...

i watched wuxia series when i was primary school
i still remember
--the one with main actor steve ma as Zhang Wu Jin and zhang zhui shan (i was too young to know the title in chinese) it was the one with sword and sabre.
--richie ren's xiao ao jiang hu as ling hu zhong
--richie ren as yang guo (err..l also watched the series before or after yang guo cos it was a sequel or prequel..not sure)
--dicky cheung's duke of mount deer
--dicky cheung's xi you ji as sun wu kong(journey to the west)
--steve ma's (legend of eight immortals)
--jimmy lin's (as xiao yu er) and alec su's (as hua wu chue) (jie dai shuang jiao/ twin)
--fang li shen's wuxia series
--legend of white snake
--crouching tiger hidden dragon (movie version and series version)
--yi jian mei (the main actor has thick eyebrows, shui ling)
--wind and clouds (peter ho)
--treasure(vicki zhao as lu jian ping and nicky wu as shui ruo han)
etc etc

i think i had watched so many wuxia series even with less famous actor and title. but wuxia series now are using visual effects that are so obvious and makes it looks like an animation.

Since we're talking about Wuxia I'm not off-topic by posting something as random as the fact that the only wuxia writer I really like is Jin Yong. I think Gu Long is kinda bad... And I don't even like all of what Jin Yong writes. My faves though, are ones I grew up with like Shen Diao Xia Lu, She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan, Tian Long Ba Bu, etc... They are really good. I can't stand watching a lot of my favorites on tv though cos they were just plain bad...

I agree. Jin Yong is the best. Gu Long's are really dull.

Just because they were traditional clothing doesn't mean the stories are old and dull. Jin Yong, the best Wuxia writer, is still alive. His stories are the best (the other ones aren't nearly as good). Chinese people call them fairytales for grown-ups. You should try one before judging them. I suggest Semi-Gods and Demi Devils(or Demons, I forgot which one), Return of the Condor Heroes (the first 5 episodes are pretty dull, though), and Legend of the Condor Heroes. They have the best love stories and the most hilarious, cute, amazing, and/or lovable characters ever.

Legend of the Condor Heroes and Semi-Gods and Demi-Devils (or Demons, I forgot). Return of the Condor Heroes and Laughing in the Wind are pretty good, too. They may not look comedic in the beginning, but each one has crazy hilarious characters later on.
