Don't know if this is a duplicate (I couldn't find a similar thread); anyways, as the the title asks, what music do you listen to when you play video games?

Normally I play some alternative rock/grunge when I'm grinding in an MMO or an RPG, most preferably Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soudgarden, Audioslave, or Incubus. When I'm doing something a bit more intense (like PvP in an MMO, solo que in LoL, Raiding (assuming we have the boss on farm and nothing is out of the usual)) I like to play something a bit more hardcore and loud, for which I have a playlist of pump up songs.

I prefer to listen to the game's score / OST. Some of my favorite music have come from videogames and I wouldn't want "other" music to interfere with the ambiance given off by the in-game score.

I don't do it often, but when i do, it depends.

For most generic games and shooters (like Halo), i'll occasionally put on classical if i'm in the mode. Sometimes J-Pop though.

For RPG's its usually just J-Pop - but only if i'm not really "immersed" in it and am just leveling or grinding or something. Though i'll also put on renaissance music if it fits.

But as I said, I don't do it too often.

Edit - Just like to clarify by saying that oftentimes I do prefer the game's natural OST. Oftentimes it works better for me. But I do play my own music whenever I feel like the game's music isn't immersive to me personally anyway.. For example, I did that with Skyrim because the music was repetitive, and I really hate the whole "tribal" sound.

I don't. It makes me feel weird. I just listen to whatever the game has to offer, usually.

As others, I usually listen to the game's soundtrack when I play games. Games should have music that sets the mood of your play through, after all.

However, for first-person multiplayer games, I tend to put on my own music, preferably some rock music to get my adrenaline pumping. For instance, when playing Day of Defeat: Source, I used to put on my Rammstein playlist. It just felt fitting. lol

When playing games like League, D3, Minecraft or such I listen to relax and chill music of all sorts.
When playing an RPG games I Play anything thtat pumps me up!

That depends. 90% of the time I listen to hardstyle. Sometimes dubstep or nightcore.

I only listen to my own music when I play fighting games. (Guilty Gear, BlazBlue) But when I do I listen to speedcore, breakcore, gabber. As well as a lot of other genres. To name some artists m1dy, Gore Tech, DJ Technorch. Sometimes I listen to Initial D soundtracks, or Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune soundtracks. Whatever I feel like playing honestly.

most of the time I'm playing RPG's of some sort and they usually have pretty good music, if I were playing something casual I actually listen to classical music to give it more of a chill atmosphere.

For shoot em ups (Borderlands 2) I don't mind me some heavier music (e.g. metalcore, or 'screamo' to most people) or punk/rock, but i managed to complete halo 3 on legendary listening to dubstep soooo...... yeah

I do love the OSTs for most games, but after hearing it on endless loop while farming dailies for hours or grinding out levels it tends to lose it's magic.

Usually I just let the games music play. If I am playing something for a long term when the music doesnt really change... say an MMORPG and I am farming, or in the middle of finishing quests, or whatever I will just play any music on my computer, which is like 7k songs mixed with many varieties like: Jazz, Country, Rock, Metal, Rap, Pop, R&B, and probably more...
