Other Information

Type: TV
Episodes: Unknown
Status: Not yet aired
Aired: Apr 2015 to ?
Producers: None found, add some.
Genres: Romance, School, Shounen, Sports

It's based off the manga with 200+ chapters translated with an additional 80+ in RAW. Another sports series to debut this Spring.

It replaces Phi Brain's time slot and airs on NHK. The series itself focuses on tennis and has a little romance in it. I've been reading the manga and it has a diverse cast of characters, some likable while others are well...takes time to get used to. I read on ANN awhile ago that the series will follow an anime original arc though so I'm slightly worried about that. Otherwise, yeah. This is probably the first tennis anime I'll be watching (never seen Prince of Tennis before); unless Teekyu counts.

The art style seems old looking. But it looks interesting.

Trust me this is the most realistic sports manga that I have ever read, all of it could very possibly happen in real life.

Nothing like Prince of Tennis, which is refreshing for a change.

I am looking forward to the anime, and hope it remains faithful to the source

Here is the PV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38uDir_Xpxk
Here is the OP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cej3pfi1fT4
Here is the ED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxc3mg9Dy9U

From what I can see in the opening and PV is that the tennis animation is going to be amazing to watch, and from the opening I think they will animate up to just before the American arc starts, as everyone who is shown in the opening gets shown up to there and the start of the american arc is the only stopping point I can see for a 2 cour anime. Either way, really excited for it!!!

Btw OP, I am not too worried about the original plots cause the author is collaborating for that. And I am pretty sure it is to keep the anime at the same pace as the manga, cause if you didn't realize the chapters showing the tennis is gonna go really fast when animated. Anyways, looking forward to more natsuxei-chan moments, cause I'm pretty sure the author will want to add a lot more of those moments with the anime.

Yeah, definitely would have seen Alex or Marcia in one of the videos if it reached the American arc, at least this means pacing should not be a problem.

I am worried though that the reason the American arc isn't included is because of this Anime original arc. Nothing would be worse for this anime than chucking Maruo into a Grand Slam early on.

It would defeat the whole realism and point of the manga about his natural progression.

Well it is made by NHK pierrot who are known for long-running animes (the damn naruto fillers, but I am not too worried about fillers with Baby Steps considering that the author is collaborating on it and the sheer amount of content they have available to animate it) so here is hoping that this will become a long-running show depicting his natural progression and the realism of his growth (god absolutely loving the tennis animation in the pv and opening).

I liked the manga for a while then got bored with it. There is a little too much tennis and not enough actual character building and matches seem like they take DBZ fight length at times. I'll see how they handle the anime though.
