I watched attack on titan up to episode 5 and didn't really get into it. Thought the plot was too comical and didn't really like the whole feel of it. 6 months later(my sister insisted I give it another go) and I confess it was a good show. I still think the story is a little strange, but I still like it and love the animation. My biggest problem is once I get attached to characters, they get eaten and I don't even have time to remember there names. I can hardly remember any names from the show. I would put the show on the lower numbers of my top 20 anime's, what did you guys think of the show(no spoilers please )?

I love seeing anime elitists that don't give popular shows a chance get hit in the face with a brick after watching shows like AoT.

Me too.

Then I feel bad for people who watched SAO because of it's popularity. Poor things

it's gore-porn, plain and simple. it's an ok series with some interesting concepts and nice world building, but there were a lot of flaws that I just couldn't look past and enjoy. not to mention the second half of the anime just dragged on for a ridiculously long time.

Well. It's better than SAO. I can say that for a fact

Don't go bashing gateway anime for being popular, 99% of us are here only because of them.

I might consider giving AOT a second chance if they ever got to that basement and reduced the puking/cringing in terror to 80% of screen time. SAO was okay, AOT ...less pleasant than Vogon poetry.

Their names*
Not "there". There is a location.

And yeah, the animations in it is so damn good. Why can't Production IG make such great animations in Kuroko?

I was already planning on buying the BD set, but the improvements and addition of scenes that weren't in the tv release have sold me even more on it.

Although the show is better than I expected, it is still a bit overhyped. Although I don't like all popular anime, my current watch list are very popular. Hunter x Hunter, Hajime no ippo and Kuruko's basketball are my main reasons for a crunchyroll subscription

AOT delivers a variety of things I enjoy from anime (e.g. great character design, a high level of world-building, strong female characters, etc.), but what it does best, IMO, is ratchet up the intensity of a situation to the point that I am literally sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for events to explode. And they do.

Nailed it for me too. I'm not on the hype train about it. but I watched it loyaly. reading the manga now too.

Shingeki no Kyojin isn't the greatest anime but it is definitely NOT the worst either. Yes, this series has flaws, lacking good character development/personality, and a main protagonist who irks me sometimes, though I still love it.

You can either hate/dislike or like/love this series all you want to, since its only important to the person watching.

Apart from the extremely high amount of animators working on the show, thus causing mistakes and changes, it was a really great show. Felt like AOT is one of the shows closest to perfection we got so far. Don't confuse this with me saying it's a perfect anime. I'm just saying i think its one of the animes closest to my ideal anime.

Well, it's not solely gore-porn. It's also got sword-porn, zombie-porn, military-porn... always funny when people say it has "no fanservice."

It's the sort of show that is driven entirely by awesomeness and gritty badass manliness (and horror). The generic "never give up, never surrender" sort of message and bits of mystique are just icing on the cake. Nothing wrong with that, but I watch anime mainly to get away from that entertainment model, so the completely berserk popularity of AoT (the hype has died down quite a bit by now, as should be expected from anything running on pure adrenaline, but its popularity still overwhelms every other show from the past few years) kind of depresses me. Reinforces my belief that, most likely, no one likes the shows I like for the same ill-defined reasons as me.

I like attack on titan.

I missed the hype train and didn't know much about it. It was really enjoyable to watch. And enough for me to pick up the manga when I was tired of waiting for episodes.

Overall it's a good show with some flaws.

I think most the dislike for it is because of the hype that it came with.

But alot of it is also just personal taste that makes sense. Like any anime it ain't going to work for everyone.

I'm not going to defend it or anything, I rarely do for my anime. Most times I don't have to.

I enjoyed it, that's all that matter.
