True love, eh?

I would define it as a decision to commit yourself and act for the good of a loved one.

Too many of us want those selfish loves... where we are in the relationship for the purpose of getting attention from the other person. I am sorry, but that is how people get hurt. Most of the world today has no idea what they want from a partner (including/especially me). I hear people say that they were in love once or that they know what love is, but the fact of the matter is most of us dont. We go in and out of relationshios believing that we know what we are doing,. Then something terrible happens, our hearts get broken. You know what the worst part is? That we go out of one broken relationshio thinking that we now know what love consists of, yet in reality we just know a piece of it, we spread like locust from one person to the next having our hearts broken and breaking the hearts of others. Because we act on our emotions, we dont think things through, we dont call people back, we cheat on people, we dont trust enough.

To the locust in the world.
I laugh at your ignorance, for you guys are the reason the divorce rate is so high, you guys are what inspires others to cheat, you are what is changing the definition of true love. And you are what is making it unattainable.

Well whatever these are just the ramblings of a crazy young man...

I couldn't help but agree more. And no, those aren't ramblings of a crazy young man. The world is crazy, remember?

I cant say I know love very well either. I thought I knew, I really did. Then I realised I'd been lying to myself all this while.... It's a strange feeling.
I know this guy... Let's call him J. Well... We knew each other since we were pretty young....

It seemed like as if I knew him from some distant past. Talk about familiarity of a thousand years when you're 11. For some reason, there's this inexplicable bond between us... Even til now. There was this period of time when I went out with him... And after some time we broke up due to lust. The period in between... I tried to love others (the in and out of relationships you mentioned). I failed. Let's just say no one responded XDXDXD one did. And I broke his heart too, I believe. And mine.
And I went along... Being deluded about love. Deluded like everyone else was. Deluded about the world. Scared of it even. Then I met two wonderful guys who changed my perspective on life, and ultimately, love. I met both of them under very strange circumstances. They were both opposites of each other, yet so much like J, yet so much unlike him. My interactions with them helped me learn a lot of things. But more importantly... I know this will sound really stupid but... it's because of them I realised all this while, amidst all the unrequited love and broken hearts... I only wanted to be with him.

Honestly? Everyone's got expectations. I wanted a guy who had ambition, who had that fiery look in his eyes. Someone who would live my dream for me. Someone who could sing for me when I'm down, who can draw too, who would support me financially and stuff...
J. He's lost. Like a lost little boy. He's got no fire in his eyes. His dream, cast far away. He doesn't dare to sing, he can't draw, and I doubt he'll be able to support me in future...
But I want to be with him. I want to be there when he's lost, I want to ignite the passion he has for his hidden dreams. And even if he doesnt want it, I don't mind. I won't force him to sing if he doesn't want to. He writes wonderful poems, albeit a little silly. Drawing, I can handle. And I vowed to pursue my dreams together with him, and one day perhaps have a nice little family......

Yes, I am long winded. And everyone out there must be saying I'm stupid too. But... I don't really care anymore. I just want to see J happy. He feels the same too. When I first met him... i thought I wanted his perfection, how he suited me so well. But I just realised.. That I was in love with his imperfection. And I'm happy when I"m with him. And he feels that way too, which is nothing short of.... beautiful...

I'm falling in love with the same guy all over again! X3

Just wanted to spread my naivety to the world. Because I believe in love. It made me happy! You should believe in it too

LOVE can be shown, and understood in many ways
>>>>Admiration.... if it's the most popular guy/girl at school, who everyone has a crush on....well, there you go
>>>>Crush.... if someone said something to you that was real nice, and is cool....
>>>>Friends, but a bit more..... if you guys are great friends, who are the rumoured "couple" by your friends.... you just MIGHT
>>>>or just pure lust....

I rather think of it as a sequence of events that happens in a certain order, within a certain time, something just **clicks**.....

Whats your opinion on love? Love has been reduced to nothing but a good excuse to have sex in today's society.

What age do you think love can be felt at? At any age. It doesn't matter wether you're 5 or 500, there's always someone out there for you. It just depends on when you meet them.

What an appropriate time to which love can be said at? Once again, it doesn't matter, as long as it's pure and you don't just want to get in their pants.

What moments can the word love be used for? When you feel that this person is the only one for you, that is when you express your love.

Is the word love truly being degraded or has it a new meaning to many?It all depends on the person! Some people use the word "love" as a way to get sex, but others use it because they truly feel that this person is the only one for them.

Is it truly the medias fault or is the cause elsewhere?I believe that we are all at fault. Yes, the media does use sex, a lot, but it is also the fault of teenage boys who use it to get laid.

s love really being degraded or do you think the meaning for love does involve the term sex and such?Love is being degraded, and I think that it's disgusting.

What is your definition of love?Well, love is a feeling that you get around a certain person. Sometimes it feels like fireworks have been set off in your head, and sometimes it feels like your body is on fire. It all depends on the person.

Whats your opinion on love? It's a wonderful thing, but I hate the way people use the term sometimes. Like, when you say "love", a lot of people automatically think of romantic love. I don't like that. Other kinds are just as wonderful.

What age do you think love can be felt at? Any age. I think it's really stupid when people say someone's too young to know what love is.

What an appropriate time to which love can be said at? When you're sure it's what you mean.

What moments can the word love be used for? Loads. There are so many different situations you can use it in. I don't know what specifics to give.

Is the word love truly being degraded or has it a new meaning to many? I think it is being degraded.

Is it truly the medias fault or is the cause elsewhere? It is partly the media's fault, but there are other factors. Every time people say they love someone when they don't, or they start acting like romantic love is the only important kind, they are degrading it. I do, though, have to admit to doing these things myself sometimes. I don't regret it, though. I learned from my mistakes.

Is love really being degraded or do you think the meaning for love does involve the term sex and such? No, it doesn't. It only involves sex if you involve sex in it yourself.

What is your definition of love? A feeling of attachment to someone, caring about them and wanting them to be happy.

Well, i think the point raised about the media influencing people's mind about this topic is right. But i believe love can happen anytime and anywhere. It just happens. You could feel love from the moment you are born, probably? love doesnt really mean that it could only be felt for the opposite sex. it could also be felt for your friends and family. Anyone who never felt love must be really really lonely. There isnt really a specific time when you could say it. As i said, you could talk about love with your friends and family. Love is just there. "What moments can the word love be used for?" Anytime, as long as the person saying it, meant it or else its just plain bullshit. There are different types of people in the world, so its only reasonable for "love" to have different meaning to them.Hm, reading this thread i kinda realise that it is being degraded on the current society but i dont think love is all about intercouse. Love is a feeling and from what i experience it doesnt have a specific term. My definition of love is- "Love is a feeling. It just happens, anytime and anywhere."

Love is a strong feeling that occurs at least once in almost everyone's life. Sure, today's society (in more globalized countries) may undermine the quality of love more than it used to, but the feeling today is as genuine as it was during the "good old days," whenever those were. Compared to the animalistic version of love of just a desire to procreate, I'd say humanity's love will never lose it's spark. Although, I'll admit, True Love sure is harder to come by, nowadays, but not impossible.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, (love) is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."

That's true love. Anything other than that isn't love.

Love's not perfect, but it overcomes.

A fulfillment of desire.
A real man wants only two things, danger and play. So he lusts after women, the most dangerous plaything.

well it is sad but today's youth do not know the real meaning of love and thus the misconception that youths are apparently having it is mainly due to the people around them including family someone in there life is doing something wrong or nothing at all
love is an action that says i am here to stay through all times no matter what
this problem is not the media's fault
and yeah love does involve sex but with and only with an intimate partner
but remember there is more than one type of love
that is my 2 bit of info

Love of relationship vs. love of person is probably the greatest disparity in the Hollywood version of love.
