The sooner you watch Mobile Suit Gundam(1979 Original) the sooner you'll realize CODE GEASS IS A SHAM! IT'S A BIG FAT LIE AND THEY LIED TO YOU! THEY ALL LIED TO YOU!

Ok, so Code Geass is actually really good, and I really really like it, and you should really really really watch it. But one day, years from now. You'll watch Mobile Suit Gundam. And you'll ask yourself. Why did I wait so long?

Also, I'll recommend the English Dub of Code Geass, it's rather good.

You also have the classics to get behind. Trigun, Samurai Champloo, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Berserk, The Slayers, Dragonball, Rouni Kenshin, Fate/Stay Night, Eureka 7, Batman the Animated Series, Invader Zim, Gunbuster, and Fooly Cooly.

I'm assuming you've got plenty of suggestions already, so have fun with that list.

The most important thing is to have fun watching what you like, and always watch some more. No mater how amazing each anime is, another one does some aspect of it better. Heavier plots, better relationships, cuter characters, crazier fights. It doesn't matter, whatever you want is out there, waiting for you to watch it.

Some of the best shows only get better as you watch more of them. Gurren Lagann is far better for every Mecha series you've seen, as it's a grand homage to Mecha anime in general. Then you have the Bakemonogatari Series, and various Rom-com's in which references come out of every off hand comment. We've not even spoken about Lucky Star and Genshiken.

LTTP. You got to see Code Geass. I putt it off such a BAD IDEA. It was one of my favorite anime binges(the only way I watch good shows) in a LONG TIME! Go ZERO!

From your list Anime I'd recommend:

D-Grey man
Trigun
Berserk - Very similar to attack on Titan. Western fantasy theme with lots of blood and gore.
Gantz - non stop action and bloody mess; Aliens and video games
Elfen Lied - lots of bloody messy action
Valvrave - Like Code Geass, but even more over the top and nonsensical. Beautiful action sequences.

Everyone has pretty much recommended the same stuff I would, the only things I might add are "Blue Sub 6" it came out around the same time as Cowboy Bebop and it is almost as interesting . . .

The first Tenchi Muyo OVAs (1992) and Project A-ko, (1985?)

I just skimmed but I didn't see The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and it's a pretty fun show, both seasons... (some may say 2nd season not so much).

And if you can find it "Magical Girl Pretty Sammy."

Oh yeah.... Outlaw Star.... AND Utawarerumono

And that my friend is why you have the internet.

Check out adultswim.com. They have all the shows they show on Toonami there also. Check it out.

Ah... I probably won't be much help here, but I recommend Love Lab. It's surprisingly funny for a slice-of-life comedy.

I second whoever said Yu yu hakusho. It's not super long for a shounen action series, and it was the first anime I watched. FMA Brotherhood is excellent. If you are going to watch Code Geass, do it early on, because I think it is more fun before you've become over saturated. Tsubasa Chronicle is good, short, and doesn't make it into the insane mindscrew that the manga ends up as.

I think actually most CLAMP stuff is pretty good to start with, and there are tie-ins between series, which is fun.

I think Gintama is more fun once you've seen a bunch of other stuff, so wait on that. One Piece is excellent if you aren't intimidated by length. Otherwise Fairy Tail is pretty good to try. You'll get a good idea of what it's like within a few episodes, unlike One Piece, which slowly grows on you.

And if you want a bit of Shoujo, try Ouran and Fruit's Basket. They're popular for a reason. Also, if you hear that something is really good and end up disliking it after watching an episode, reserve final judgment till you've watched a more shows. Taste's in anime tend to evolve.

I would expect the videos there to be region restricted to the United States.
