I was hoping people who liked To aru series, or a certain Magical Index light novels could discuss the series here... so if anyone has anything to say like about NT 9 the recent infinitely amazing volume that came out, feel free to do so here...

I'm only at NT 4.

I enjoy a lot about the series, but I absolutely abhor Kamijou Touma. In my mind, he is an awful character.

It is unfortunate that the main character is so terribly irritating, but he is really the worst part of the series. The rest of the series is enjoyable.

The series became a whole lot better when Hamazura & Accelerator became Main Characters. I really love the volumes where Touma is completely uninvolved, or he just comes in at the very end to take the credit.

Anyways, I love the characters of Accelerator & Misaka Worst. Great enough characters to almost make up for the Touma centric beginning volumes.

Continuing my touma rants:
-hypocritical
-misogynistic
-some decisions make no sense
-Talks too much when he is just gonna punch everyone in the face regardless

It actually feels like the author realized a lot of these character flaws in later volumes, and is why the series starts focusing less on Touma. People even start commenting on these things. So I can accept that at least the author recognizes it. But of course, the character of Touma can't accept character development. That would be out of character.

NT9 was actually quite an interesting read. It was interesting to see how the "other worlds" worked without "Kamijou Touma", and I was slightly surprised that Touma was still fine with saving them. I really wanted the "perfect world" to exist in the actual story line, with Komaba and Frenda back alive (not to mention the appearance of the characters of a certain Index movie), but I guess the fact that such a perfect world couldn't exist was what the author was going for- it pulled at my heartstrings and really shook Touma up.
When Touma met the Will, I really thought he would do the whole "I'll save you!" thing for her and fight Othinus, but I was surprised. His character development and the Will's insight showed how Touma had matured from the beginning. I wonder how this will affect his future adventures, though.
The whole time Touma was fighting Othinus, I kept thinking to myself, "If she is basically a god, why can't she just defeat Touma in a way only a god can, instead of fighting like the magicians and sorcerers Touma fought before?"- at least, until I found out the whole thing was just like a time loop.
I really thought Touma would finally defeat Othinus in the final battle, and he was really close to doing so. That scene where he comforts her just as he died was really touching, and the cliffhanger really got me hooked!

In other words, it was a really great volume, worthy of a "final chapter" kind of development (if it is), and I can't wait for NT10 (coming soon!).

Volume 10 came out just recently! Touma fights his past allies to save Othinus in a final "boss rush". The Othinus arc finishes magnificently as volume 10 (and potentially the NT series) comes to a close.

(Lol the Epilogue says no.)

That was a really good volume. I especially liked Chapter 20 and the Epilogue. They were both fantastic. It's a shame we have to wait longer for NT 11 since Kamachi is publishing the first book of his new "orthodox school series" in two months (though that should hopefully be good as well.)
