I recently received a phone call from a guy with weird accent telling me that my mom had a case file from the IRS. To fix the problem he told me to call Kenneth Webster @ 4152510522.

I was suspicious about the whole phone call thing, especially when I knew my mom had not been working for several years and an IRS case that had to be known via phone call. First of all, if there's something is up, IRS would send a letter first before calling at all. Second, it's the area code. Third, the accent.

I looked up online and, surely enough, I wasn't the first [potential] victim.

I told my parents not to give their D.O.B. and social security number loosely and even on the phone. Too many scam artists nowadays. Even the ones who have the audacity to make infomercials or commercials televised. [e.g., 1800-411-PAIN or the BIG RED BUS]. We see it [scam] everyday yet it seems so normal.

Anyways, have you experience being scammed?

I can't say that I've ever really been scammed by anyone before in this way. Personally, yes, I feel like I've been scammed, but never professionally or monetarily. I've known about these kinds of scams for a long time now and this is exactly why I don't even answer my cell phone unless it's a number that I know. That and telemarketers. >.> I figure that if they really know me or are trying to get a hold of me that they'll leave a message with contact information.

Do MMO games count? You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than that of Runescape 8 or so years ago.

No, but my mom once paid someone to give her a virus under the guise of giving her a virus software package. She noticed something was wrong with her computer a couple of weeks later, and asked me to fix it. When I found out what she did 15 minutes later, I had a pretty good laugh.

Hahahaha, I know what you mean. Despite this, MMOs remain to be my favorite type of game, even with all the pricks and scammers.

Yeah. Not even a week ago someone, also with a weird accent, passing himself off as Kevin Baker tried to say I was some lucky winner of two and a half million dollars. He tried calling several times after I hung up on him and he left a message saying to call him back because "it is emergency". Pissed me off that day. Then the next day, someone who I could barely understand was trying to tell me that someone is going to deliver a package to my house in two hours and they wanted me to take a survey. Didn't do it.
The day after that, another weird number tried calling me. I was so tired of all that bullshit so I just didn't pick up.

Not money-wise...

Only when it comes to the matters of the heart.

I've dated two guys who already had a bf. :-/

See, this is why I don't answer my cell phone if I don't recognize the number. Because once you do and it's a scammer, they know that it's an active number and will tell all the other scammers that they know that it is and give it to them. Not saying that you did anything wrong, just trying to make you and others aware of that fact.
