It wasn't, but you can place blame on the voice director for the majority of the complaints. He/She is the one giving the actor/actress direction, after all. Then, you can blame the voice actress, because she obviously didn't do a stellar job per the voice director's said direction. Or, simply, you can blame her voice, which would make no sense. If we're speaking in terms of voice acting.

Besides the accents, he sounds good since there won't be accents in the dub. I still like the voice actor he has now.
Just my very own opinion.

They all sound great to me so far, I'll enjoy rewatching it. And the best part is it won't be Attack on Cliffhanger this time

Hm, maybe it wan't obvious enough in my most, but what I said was an opinion. When I said, "It was really bad," I was saying it was bad to ME. I simply didn't like the voice for the character, which by your standards, makes no sense. I'm pretty sure it happens all the time, though. It's not uncommon for a person to imagine how they think/hope a character will sound only for the character not to fit what they imagined.

Yes, I know it's your opinion. And yes, it's very common. What I was referring to was that, overall, it wasn't bad. Trina Nishimura played her part well (in the clips I've seen, anyhow). I wasn't talking about her actual voice, but her acting. You did say "voice acting", after all. If the actor/actress in question plays his/her role well, it doesn't matter if his/her voice isn't exactly how you may have imagined. For me, personally, I imagined a deeper and slightly more emotionally-bottled voice, but what they went with is fine too. At the end of my post I did put "If we're speaking in terms of voice acting", you know?

Most of them sound great to me. I said this before, but my favorites are Armin, Mikasa and Sasha. In my opinion, from what I have seen, Sasha sounds a lot better than the orginal japanese one.

But AoT is a European fantasy series so I see no problem with giving the characters European accents.

haven't liked what i've heard so far. I'm all for dubbing, but i just never like the actors they chose, it always sounds like it's forced. i really felt that in the training clip that was released, i just don't get that emotion that the scene calls for. Besides, who are these guys they hire? Is money such an issue that they can't hire actual well-known actors?

i feel like with a big series like this they should go the extra mile. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind had huge names, like Patrick Stewart, Uma Thurman, Jodi Benson, Shia LaBeouf, etc. They did an amazing job. tbh it would be difficult to get actors of their caliber, but still, I feel that Attack on Titan deserves much better.

The problem is most big name actors in America just won't do anime dubbing cause they think it is beneath them. They only make an exception for Studio Ghibli films, and really only because Disney is footing the casting bill.

For your anime serials and non-Ghibli films, you are going to only get dedicated voice actors. And because they work with their voice, not all of them necessarily have proper acting training. A decent chunk of voice actors worked in radio before doing voice acting, for example.

Now that doesn't mean they can't act. Some of them can, but it seems in America more value is put into how wide your vocal range is more so than just how well you can actually act. To put it another way, it is not rare to witness a voice actor talking to themselves via having multiple roles in a show or game that are conversing with one another.

Plain and simply, FUNi lacks the funds to pay for "established" actors, even lower level character actors. Disney can afford that, though, so that's why their Ghibli dubs always have these all-star vocal casts.

Bebop still is my proof that dubs can be as good and BETTER than SUBS. I would go along to say Baccano! and Black Lagoon would not be the show they are WITHOUT the dubs. You some times need that fing English to make the show work. Psycho-Pass I am fine with a SUB only world for it but surprisingly the DUBs fit and seamless make the show better than I though it would be.

Still there is a Show like Future Diary dub that got pretty much ripped because of it failed to keep up with Yuno's amazing sub work. You win some you lose some but over all many animes pretty much are better because dubs exist for them.

Some like FMA: Brotherhood really because of the world design ... a romantic language makes more sense. Heck that could be leveled too for most Gundam's and AOT too. The design of the world a romantic(AKA English) speech MAKES SENSE. I just hope the trend of better quality continues and this industry gets enough cash to support more actors.
