I thought someone cleared up the age thing with the source material earlier in the thread and it was like Nike is 15 and Livi is 12?

As has been said, there is usually a few people who hit the puberty jackpot every year in middle school. I remember one girl who went from from nothing to Yoko proportions in a 3 month time frame in the 6th grade. And, there were other girls who were of similar builds.
And, there were a few guys who developed into very muscular and chiseled by the end of middle school. Though, they tended to work on farms and/or happened to be in sports like American football.

Lol if the anime were true to that LN cover one wouldn't be too far off in thinking Livi was actually the older of the two. As far as the anime goes I still think Livi has to be pre-pubescent, hence 12ish

Edit: Manga cover not LN

Well regardless of personal preference our king livi is still maccing and doing his thing. I hope we all enjoy a MC not acting like he's afraid of females and faints from the presences of a girl. I'm digging the show so far though.

there's a light novel? bakaupdates doesn't say it is based on a LN. And according to the manga Livi is 15. The scanlators for the manga have confirmed this (can't link due to rules). I'm guessing the anime is going by the manga.

Holy crap they kissed!!!!!

I'm sorry, you just don't see people kissing often in anime, so whenever one happens, it is a landmark event.

Anyways, I really liked this episode. And looks like next episode is the opposite as we have a pretty boy that appears to be Nike's age trying to steal her away from Livi.

Hell, even I'm an example of this. In middle school I shot up from my pint size frame to freaking 6'1"! I towered over nearly everyone in my school, even some of my teachers.

This show really is surprisingly good. Its turning out to be one of my favorites of the season.

I love the character's personalities and the development they've all undergone after such a short time. It really gives the show a sense of motion. Heck, Livius himself is progressing far more in these past few episodes than I expected him to in the whole season. This show just keeps surprising me.

However, I still can't get passed the age thing. It just feels rather uncomfortable. I'd have greatly preferred it if they were married in name, but Nike served more as a surrogate mother figure. At least they decided to go with a young boy, though. While I hate to admit it, i'd probably be much more uncomfortable if their genders were reversed.

Quite an odd sensation. Although the show itself is amazing, that one aspect gives me mixed feelings about it. i'm not saying its necessarily bad in this context, but I can't lie and say that i'm perfectly comfortable with it. Reminds me of Claymore all over again . . .

Don't even get me started on Nike. She's just so far on the spectrum of the most unconventional protagonists you'll ever encounter. At least, for me she is. I would remember knowing a character who doesn't hesitate to sock someone in the face if she thinks they deserve it, yet still able to see the good in them and help them regardless not a day later. She's brash, a little rough around the edges, has frequent bouts of anger and streaks of jealousy and depression, but at the same time she doesn't blame anyone for it. She doesn't wallow in negativity for too long and seeks to take action as soon as she can. The fact that she's never helpless and can take anyone on is ++ points. She's an angel without even trying. A flawed one, but an angel nonetheless.

You know those characters in anime where they're made out to be such a saint that you're convinced they've never committed a single sin in their life, and that they're oblivious to all but their state of constant altruism? I see a lot of them and they tend to strike a wrong nerve in me. People like that just don't exist. I'm so glad Nike's portrayed a human as all of us. And I think that's beautiful.

Well said!

Nike is a very real character and isn't some cut out goody-two-shoe that's living in their own little happy world. Nike is a good person that's actually realistic and has a lot of flaws.

I didn't even really think about it that way till you brought it up. Good observation!
