Hahah it might if she has to call down rain to put out the burning Livi is about to order. I am just happy it didn't end with a slap, beacuse they are actually tackling promising plot points on their love.

lol i was actually thought there was going to be a slap but yea good thing there wasnt im pretty excited to see what happens in the next episode... this ep was just crazy i wasnt expecting that kind of reaction at all and i do have to agree with Nike not being the same this time around.... my mind was officially blown after that episode lol xD

She should have started singing as soon as Livi walked in.

What was Prince bard really expecting when he overstepped his boundaries, insulting the king and tried to womanize the King's wife? Lol. He should have considered Nike's safety BEFORE he did all that.

And Nike defending Bard at the end there? What an idiotic woman.

To think both of them were acting indignant to each other's treatment. How honorable of them to look out for each other's safety at the end there.

I get the feeling from next week's preview, we'll get a nice lecture from Nike, rationalizing the reason for NTRs in anime.

I don't think Livius will actually go through with his threats, he was just extremely pissed at the time. I do believe he's capable of it, just not willing to kill his own uncle over sleeping with his not-quite-wife.

But Bard isn't gonna escape banishment at the very least. Wich is fair, what did Bard expect?

"I tried to sleep with your girlfriend but it turns out she didn't want to. It's cool, I just wanted to test her loyalty!"

"You... tried to sleep with my girlfriend!?"

Koda89I wonder if Livi's hate for Bard has to do with Livi's mom? It has to, doesn't it?

And it is a great hate to make Livi instantly doubt Nike's faithfulness after all the things she has done so far in the series.

I'd be extremely surprised if Bard hadn't tried to seduce Sheila at some point, but I don't think Livius actually hates his uncle. You think Livi would have put up with THAT much shit from somebody he sincerely hated? There's been a lot of bullying before the king caught Bard and Nike in bed.

Of course Livius would react extremely badly to his very own uncle sweeping the First Lady off her feet with the approval of the nobility present., after days of abuse, and actually finding both in her bedroom screaming things they'd be screaming if they were having an actual affair. Remember Livi has been facing an hostile world since the day he was born. People betraying him is the default assumption, the church and nobility hate him and there's been enough assassination attempts that he doesn't even react to it. So he finally opens up to someone and... well...

Sure, Nike has done some great things, but Nike is a teenager. Teenagers are passionate and mercurial by deffinition, and Bard is VERY good at swaying people. It doesn't excuse Livius threatening to burn Nike's entire country of course, but it explains why Livi reacted the way he did.

Sometimes it's hard to remember cute little vulnerable Livi is also a stone cold hardass, who crushed all his enemies on the battlefield and pushed massive social reforms through the active opposition of everyone in power in his own kingdom.

Well you know, I COULD see all this blowing over if Bard pulled a Benny Hill, and this was Candid Camera.

But I wonder if he's been ordered by a higher up to test the relationship of Livius and Nike.

Oh don't let it turn you off the show, first because youi'd be missing out on a really fun ride and second because that's just one arc. It's more about how the two lead react then about the other guy ever even wanting to actually get the girl.

It's just that when one of the people involved is a king, even small minor misunderstanding can have major consequences.

Strange it's turning me off the show because Nike turns into a passive character when her previous portrayal was a bold tomboy. All her personality traits that attracted me to the show are removed in order for this stupid arc to work and I don't like what it means for the ability of the show to interest me anymore. I really hate idiot ball plot lines and this one seems to carry all the traits of one.

My impression is that Nike has spent all her time trying to learn how to be a refined lady so as not to embarrass the throne. I don't think her core personality has changed, I think she's just giving it her all to become a good queen.

If anything, my biggest criticism of the show so far is how easily she fell for Livi. I know they only have so much time to get the story rolling, but even so it seemed too easy for such a strong-hearted person to fall for someone so unsuited for her. It would have been more believable if either Livi was closer in age to Nike, or their "courtship" had taken longer.

Amusingly I think that if you said that to Nike she'd kinda agree. I think the attraction just snuck up on her.

I can understand the appeal to Nike. Brilliant, witty, strong willed young man with just a bit of insecurity and a tragic backstory. Even Livi's darker side is kinda sexy. And he sure knows how to talk to his lady: "No, you are beautifull. As the sky is wide and the sun is bright, you are beautifull."

Or see the episode with the rival: Livius went out of his way to reasure Nike that he never was interested and it wasn't going to change. And did it again when he saw that the pressure was getting to Nike. He did it again this episode, when he noticed Nike was exhauseted. He's good at showing he cares.

A lot of grief would have been avoided if Nike had been as good at reading her partner, when Livius started to freak out she just mumbled under her breath wondering what was his problem instead of reasuring him. I don't think she realised it was serious.

Why would she? Without the killer eyes Livi looks like a cute short guy who builds orphanages. It's easy to forget King Livius is a stone cold bastard who methodically crushed all military opposition, who deliberately pushed major social reform through the resistance of the church and nobility... and who also builds orphanages.

Episode 8

Bard is locked up while Nike is in a lockdown. So what's a princess to do in a situation like this? Escape, break him out, summon clouds, and break that numbskull's head. And by that, it means forcing Livi into a gazebo with Bard to take shelter from the rain. That ought to get him to make up with his distrustful uncle. Now, Bard is back as the Prime Minister. That was just nice the way things went down (save for the way-too-long Tender Rain) there seeing how Bard and Nike made up. Some things never change, but at least they are getting along. Next up, it looks like some old hag is coming for Nike to do something.

Episode 8 was great.

I hadn't noticed before but Sheila's voice is Keiko Han (Luna and Beryl in Sailor Moon).

While recognized Sakurai Takahiro doing Bard right away in Ep7 it was only Ep8 with Bard obeying Livi (and then not) to compare their characters' dyanamic to Miyuki (Sakurai) and Furuya (Shimazaki) in Ace of Diamond.

Episode 8

Ooh, so Nike helps Bard break out of that prison. I think that prison wasn't somewhere he deserves to be anyways since the previous episode's ending. At first, I didn't like him much but now I'm kinda neutral.

Anyways, I'm glad those two made up. I didn't get much feelings from that flashback though and the rain part felt kinda rushed. But still, overall a cute episode especially the ending there. I wonder who that old woman is at the end there. I smell bad news.
